It was years later...
Lizzy had moved out and was married to Lucy. Charlie and Alex didn't work out but they're still great friends.
Roman was old, and lived alone, but he always had people over. He never made an effort to find another true love, Virgil was his one and only and he was okay with that. He came to realize that as soon as he was told Virgil was gone. He wasn't ever going to be ready to move on. And he was okay with that. He was happy that he had a good life with the ones he loved.
But he was on his death bed.
At least he'd get to die of old age.
He was in the hospital, Lizzy holding his left hand...with the silver ring around his finger. Her eyes held unshelled tears, but she was there for him.
Lizzy and Lucy were there with their five little boys and one girl. All under the age of ten. And Roman was happy that he was alive long enough to have met them, and he knew that Virgil would have loved them. Logan loved them, but he, nor Patton, made it long enough to meet over half of their kids.
"Dad...Thank you for everything." Lizzy said softly as Roman's eyes fluttered closed for the last time, and the heart monitor had a monotone beep as Roman took his final breath and smiled his last smile...

"Took ya long enough" Roman looked around in the abyss of white. Everything looked so bright. When he turned around he saw him...
"V-Virgil...?" Roman hesitantly asked. Virgil looked just as young as he remembered him to be. Roman looked at his hands, no longer old and wrinkly. He looked back up at the dark figure, that wore a purple and black hoodie...
"Virgil!" Roman ran to him, wrapping his arms around him and picking him up, holding him close. Roman had missed his beloved.
"Hey babe." Virgil spoke softly. "You really did take your time"
"I'm so sorry. I'm sorry!" Roman fell to his knees, causing Virgil to fall to his knees as well. "I'm sorry!" Roman cried. "I've missed you so so so so much" Roman's embrace tightened.
"Roman, you're gonna kill me, stop squeezing me so tight." Virgil laughed, but it was a sad laugh. It was a remorseful laugh. He started crying just as much as Roman was.
"I should have stuck around longer, I should have tried harder, I'm sorry too..." Virgil spoke a lot more softly then Roman had.
"No! Don't say things like that, you're amazing and perfect and did everything just right." Roman put his hands on Virgil's soft cheeks, he stared into his love's eyes.
"God I've missed you." Roman leaned in and kissed him...
That kiss was much too prolonged. But the two stayed enveloped in each others presence, missing the touch of the others lips on theirs. Roman missed the slightly chapped lips Virgil always had. Virgil missed the soft lips that Roman always sported. Roman missed those light brown eyes that he could always get lost in. And Virgil missed the warm embrace that Roman always provided him.
"Don't ever leave me again, please!" Roman begged as their kiss ended. "I promise. I promise you I won't..."
~~~~~
The two were walking down a path, hand in hand. The more they walked the less white surrounded them. A little town popped up...Their old house, Logan and Patton!
"Dad!" Roman ran to Patton and put his arms around him. "Oh my Irene, you're all here." Roman covered his mouth and started crying again. "I guess gays can get into heaven..." Roman chuckled. As did the others, but no one could laugh with out feeling sad.
