Flashing Roberto a small smile, Liliana gave him a hug as they stood in Faro Airport, she and Cristiano were both flying back to Madrid and were saying goodbye to their parents since they wouldn't see them again until Christmas.
The engagement ring had been moved onto Liliana's right hand, although Dolores and Roberto were a little suspicious about the ring that the young woman now carried on her finger.
Dolores couldn't remember why but the ring that Liliana wore looked very familiar to her but she knew that she had seen it before; she just didn't know where and she was sure that it would come to her later.
"I'll call you when I get home," Liliana promised pulling away from her father who nodded softly, Cristiano watched the pair feeling a little guilty that she couldn't tell him that they were engaged.
It was for the best right now and Cristiano just hoped that things would work out when they did tell their parents and families about them being together.
"Tell Stephanie when you see her that I said Hola," Roberto murmured making Liliana nod, she knew her father missed her sister; however, after their divorce, Justine had done everything in her power to try and turn her daughters against Roberto.
It had worked in Stephanie's case and she had only ever seen her mother's side of things, a fact that had divided the sisters when it came to how they spent most of their time.
"Of course," Liliana said as Cristiano said goodbye to Dolores just as their flight was called; the brunette flashed one last smile collecting her carry-on bag before she and Cristiano headed towards their gate.
Dolores glanced at Roberto as they watched their children leave; there was something different about the pair of them and she couldn't figure out what it was.
"Is it just me or do they seem... closer?" Dolores asked softly as Liliana and Cristiano disappeared into the crowd, Roberto pursed his lips and nodded wondering what had happened.
It didn't make sense how things seemed to have changed for the two of them, they barely had any time alone that their parents knew of and yet there was clearly something different about them.
"They do seem closer," Roberto replied making Dolores look at him and smile, the two of them hoped that maybe, just maybe their children had finally come to their senses and had started a relationship.
The two friends grinned at one another before they started to leave the airport; they would have to wait until the two returned for Christmas to learn if anything had happened.

Liliana glanced at Cristiano as they both waited at baggage claim, this would be the last time that they saw each other face to face for two weeks; she couldn't believe that they were actually engaged.
Cristiano was heading back to training while Liliana had to head back work to writing her column and her second book; she was determined to make things work for them now they were engaged.
"I'll miss you," Cristiano murmured glancing at his fiancée, he didn't know what he would do without her for two weeks even if they were skyping, texting and calling one another.
Liliana collected her suitcase, she knew better than to touch him in anyway here; they had to act like friends since they didn't want to blow their cover.
Even the slightest slip up could bring their entire relationship to the public eye without them having anyway to stop it; something that neither of them wanted especially right now.
"I'll miss you too," Liliana said as she shouldered her bag and flashed him a smile, as she prepared to leave while Cristiano collected his own suitcase.
The couple pretended to be checking their bags as they said their goodbyes before heading in opposite directions; Liliana smiled as she spotted her friend, Natasha Simmons, waiting for her.
The two women grinned at each other as they hugged each other quickly before Natasha caught sight of the ring on Liliana's hand; she paused wondering what was going on.
"I'll tell you at home," Liliana insisted making Natasha nod staring at the engagement ring for another moment; Liliana had confided in the other brunette when Natasha had started to get suspicious about her and Cristiano.
Once Natasha got something in her mind then it was impossible to convince her otherwise, so Liliana had had no choice but to bring her in on the secret; plus, it was nice having someone to talk to when they had problems.
The drive back to Liliana's home seemed to fly-by with Natasha glancing at Liliana as they pulled up outside her apartment block making the brunette roll her eyes amused as she collected her suitcase from the boot of the car.
Heading inside, Liliana grinned as her Norwegian Ridgeback rushed to greet them at the door; she ducked down to greet Frankie knowing that she had been stuck home alone without her for long enough and the dog sitter wasn't the best company.
Natasha watched her friend, she wanted to hear all about her holiday and she was hopeful that the secret wouldn't have to stay that for much longer; she wanted to tell their friends about what was going on.
"Cristiano asked me to marry him and I said yes," Liliana revealed making Natasha squeal in excitement as she moved to look at the ring which was on Liliana's right hand still.
It had been a long time coming and Natasha was thrilled for her best friend, she just hoped they would be able to share it with everyone.
"You're the only person who knows," Liliana continued flinching away from the glare that Natasha gave her; she had been telling Liliana since she had discovered the relationship to come out to her family about her relationship with Cristiano.
However, Liliana had refused stating that it was better that no one knew about their relationship, that it was safer if their families didn't know; that clearly wasn't going to work now she was engaged.
"Liliana you promised, I am sick of being the only one who knows apart from my husband," Natasha mumbled making Liliana sigh moving into the living room with her friend following her.
Liliana sat on her couch and sighed as she looked at Natasha who looked at her expectantly, she didn't know what was going on anymore.
"I know that I can't hide this forever and it would make a lot of people happy if we were to come out but we can't," Liliana said making Natasha frown at her friend's words as she sat down next to her wondering what she meant.
The two women sat in silence trying to gather their thoughts about the argument that they always seemed to have, it didn't matter what was said they always seemed to end up having this fight.
"But it's different now, you're both getting married," Natasha said making Liliana sigh and shake her head, she knew what Natasha wanted and it wasn't possible.
Liliana sighed watching her friend; it couldn't be healthy hiding something this big from everyone that she cared about.
"It's the same as it has ever been, if this gets out to my family then it is over," Liliana revealed making Natasha look at her concerned, she wondered what the brunette feared that could end her relationship with Cristiano.
