My Life Changed

This small, petite woman looked at me with complete and utter determination which surprised me. What is wrong with this being? The redhead was sitting in front of me waiting patiently for me to do as I was asked. Why is she so interested in something that won't benefit her?

I was sitting in the garden enjoying the peace and tranquility but that was short lived when the young queen decided to sit in front of me. At first I didn't mind but then she decided to ask questions. Is it really the time to ask the forgotten draco questions about the past? I really am not liking this game.

"Why do you want to know?" I finally spoke up to her which seemed to catch Alyss a bit off guard.

"Well, you seem to be guarded, I can't sense your power pressure and your shadow won't even let me touch it. I just want to know what made you not become evil." She was soft spoken but I knew there was a large fire burning within her, waiting to be fueled.

"Fine, I'll tell you. You just aren't allowed to say this to anyone else, as my niece who has yet to know draco customs be open minded to what I'm going to explain." I started out waiting for her to gesture me to continue.

"Yeah of course," she answered making me smile at her.

"Our kind needs rulers, great power needs to be in check at all times. Males have a much harder time with control because, well they all want different kinds of 'control'. Us, females, are anchors to our men and also hold the most power against fighting and mating. The reason the witch told the lie of me wanting the throne, was so to insure my brothers went crazy. The witch was smart, if she were to target one of the boys, they would've just let it pass without a second glance. Competition among them is normal, but for a female to want to take the throne meant she could. We are much stronger and smarter then men. I wanted no such thing, I wanted to be happy, to be a part of the happiness around me. Demonia was my guardian, so to speak, he was my mother's best friend and he swore to defend my virtue. My brothers took me out one bloody moon and told me that a mountain showed the great spot of the moon. So I followed them up to the damn mountain because even though I knew the darkness in their hearts, I loved them too much to fight them." Looking up to the sky and smiled. Alyss took my hand into hers and tightened it reassuringly.

"You knew what they were planning?" Alyss met my gaze with great empathy.

"No, actually I didn't. I just knew they were planning something bad, if I had focused on their thoughts maybe I could've prevented it all. As a young draco, I was told that our species lay on my hands, and it literally did. I was beaten, tortured and then slaughtered under the bloody moon. They left me in limbs on the mountain. The moon is known to our kind as the Draconis Lunae. Dragon Moon, it is also something I'm called." I continued making Alyss uncomfortable. "I used the last bit of power I had left and teleported to the Pleasant Hills. I created Besytro, a type of healing seal to only undo itself when the red moon was directly on the tip of the hills. With my absence I watched my kind cease to exist, falling before my fingertips. I could only save Rocco, he was the only one I could save from dying in his mother's labor." I wiped my eyes and sighed.

"No one blames you Auntie," Alyss tightened her hand and hugged me. "In fact, thank you." She was shocking me more and more by the second. "For making sure Rocco was able to come to me." So that's why, she's too kind to know her own selfishness.

"Alyss, I watched you bury your own family on top of me. You do realize that if it weren't for me, your family would still be alive." I told her but she seemed unphased.

"If not for the witch who lied, none of this would've happened?" Wow, way to go straight to the roots. "Why would she lie though?"

"If you drink the blood of a royal female draco, it can kill you or it can grant you the throne almost immediately. If your survive, you get half the royal blood and all the dragon blood." I took her finger and set it on my forearm. "My skin cannot be penetrated, it's only weakness is when I'm at my prime."
