If It's Not

I decided to go to my room to fall asleep in, if something really was going on I wouldn't be able to do anything about it besides be held hostage. Yeah, I'm too tired for this. I showered before going to bed. I felt icky anyways so it felt good after.

It was one in the morning I woke up to Léon walking in all bloodied and dirty. I pretended to be asleep and when I heard him go into the bathroom to shower I checked out his clothes. It really was blood and dirt. What the hell did he do? And to who!? Knocking on the bathroom door, I knew he never locks it which is a bad habit and walked in. I also know he showers before going to the tub to relax in boiling hot water.

Léon opened his left eye to look over at me before closing it and going back to relax. I sat by the tub just staring at his damp hair. He really was too much of a man for me to look at, regardless I kept my gaze on him.

"What are you doing in here?" Léon finally spoke up annoyance thick in his tone. "Ready to mate to me again?"

"Why were your clothes bloodied?" I held my palm up to him which had some dirt but majority was all blood. "Did it have to do with the twins?" I caught his attention now but I was worried about the twins.

"Now what would you know about the twins?" Léon grabbed my arm bringing me closer to the tub and forcing me from my butt to my knees. "Who did you talk to, while I was gone?" Léon growled at me making me glare at him.

"It's not like you care," I ripped my arm out of his grasp. "You completely ignored me the day I tried to talk to you." I got up and headed towards the door, I didn't make it out.

Being pinned up against a door isn't exactly my ideal romantic scene. Especially when Léon is completely naked with water dripping off his entire body. I glared up at him as he held my arms above my head.

"Who talked to you?" Léon snarled at me making me scoff in his face obviously challenging the alpha male in him. "I can force it out of you." He threatened with a loads amounts of mischief.

"Then you should've probably listened to me the second time we slept together!" I headbutted him when he bent down to my eye level. "We're all crazy somehow though, right?" I hissed getting out of the bathroom.

"The voices in your head?" He really was listening to me. Alyss wasn't kidding. "Who was it? Did you recognize it?" He sounded hopeful making me angrier.

"It wasn't your precious Shay if that's what you were wondering!" I shouted at him clearly pissed off at him. "Unless Shay is a male!" I threw a towel at his shocked expression. "God you're such an ass!" I was about to storm out of the room but he caught me again.

"You are my precious Shay," Léon had the towel wrapped around his lower half as he held my hand in his. "I was wondering if you heard something familiar to you that could help you remember some figment of your last memories. I didn't mean it as to offend you." Léon was built like a Greek god sculpted by the Italians. Muscle was just plastered all over his nicely tanned body. "I'm sorry I didn't listen to you, I didn't know how to act if you don't let me hold you. I don't know any other way to comfort you beside hold you in my arms." Léon sounded desperate, he's trying to be understanding, he was trying all along. "When I was fighting you, I didn't mean to actually cause you any harm, I just saw the past you in my vision, we always competed against each other. I forget that's it you but not the you I used to see."

"Why were you being so mean?"

"I don't want to manipulate you, I don't want you to believe that I was pushing my feelings to you. I just wanted for you to admit it on your own accord. It wasn't for you to be guilty about it." Léon had his forearms pressed against the wall, right above me. "I'm sorry." He tried and I had to admit that it was progress.

"It was a man who threatened the twins," I scratched the back of my head. Then I remembered the rest of the threat. "By the end of this week." My eyes widened, today was the end of the week since that threat. "Oh my god!" I stared up at Léon horrified by my own self. "Nico and Nena!" I ran out and towards where my feet led me.

I was running bare foot through the forest running past the river and towards an area where decorations were scattered over the clearing of the forest but there were shacks of stores all over. They weren't open or done yet but it looked like a festival. There was a giant oak tree at the end of the trail of shacks. There were students asleep all over, completely passed out. Is this what they've been working out since they've been gone? I was impressed but the twins were my priority.

I found to fiery redheads by a fountain and I knew it was the twins. I woke them up and made them follow me even though they were half asleep. Dragging them into the school I covered them with blankets and let them go back to sleep. I felt only one need to protect and that was what I was going to do.

Léon came down in gray sweats with Rocco, Alyss, Bo, Dracos, Nox, Necator, Dennis and Demonia. I explained to everyone clearly that it was the twins who were in danger and needed protection not me. Léon stayed by my side at all times not bothering with our actual priority. Alyss to my surprise wasn't weak at hearing the news she actually was ready to defend her children which made me proud of her. I didn't care that she was a few centuries older than me.

"I don't think you should be here if the twins are the ones in danger, our enemy last night was tough enough. Imagine if this guys is stronger," Necator crossed his arms looking me up then down. "You're too weak."

"Gee thanks," I glowered at Necator who shrugged at me. He was telling the truth. "I'll stay with twins though."

No one said anything else, I guessed they were talking amongst each other telepathically. I didn't care, I kept my gaze on the two sleeping beauties in front of me. That's all that mattered, I felt guilty that I hadn't reacted more to the threat. I mean, I was training, but I never investigated any more than the first day.

I ended up falling asleep which was quite comfy because I was resting my head between the twins and their hands were intertwined with mine. Waking up, Léon was watching me from the couch chair to my right. I yawned, stretching my arms and back out. The twins were fast asleep though.

Looking for a clock I found none.

"It's only eight, you slept for only six hours." Léon told me, I sighed ever so heavily and turned back to the twins. "They're exhausted, I doubt anyone will get past the Burkettos so why don't you go upstairs and change? I'll stay on watch until Deus and Demonia get back."

"Okay," I stared at the twins before reluctantly getting up to go to the North Wing.

Why would they target the twins? To the entire family house, they're the babies, any family would protect their children no matter the cost. If a newborn were to be attacked what would be the first line of defense and offense? There would be huge numbers for this family. Being this particular family, they're all really close. So if a child were to be attacked, then that would mean, everyone would be contacted to make sure absolutely no harm came to them.

I would rile up the family by attacking their weakness. My first targets would definitely be the children, they're easy to kill and defenseless. I would be cautious of the father who would be the defense but the mother by far would be the most dangerous. She would give up everything in order to have her children safe. Impiorum. That name kept running through my head when I thought about a mama bear. Getting back on track, I would know that if I threatened children everyone would hear about bringing out dangerous men and women. So why would you target the most protected beings of the family? Why would you risk your life by being attacked? What's in it for the attacker?

The only reason I would attack the children was so I could bring out everyone. That's the only explanation. Bringing out the big guns and getting rid of them means the walls are crumbled and the house is left for the taking. Gasping, I figured out his plan!

"Léon!!" I turned my attention and sprinted right for the direction of the everyone. "No!" I climbed down staircase after staircase trying to get to them.

Hearing a scream my heart almost jumped from my chest. My senses went haywire as I recognized that voice. My heart beat picked up though it felt like my heart was in the pit of my stomach. One thing kept replying in my mind, if she died what would happen to the foundation of the family.

Alyss needs to stay alive!
