"Ms. Trevolt!" Mrs. Danier shouted at me while slamming the Chemistry textbook on my desk. "It seems like my teaching is boring to you so by all means," by the door stood the security guard to this damn school.
"Yeah, yeah." I stood up walking over to Carrie who waited until we were walking down the stairs to laugh at me. "I never said her teaching was boring, just to clarify."
"Dear lord, Vanessa, what are you going to do with you?" Carrie is one of the few people I actually trust and talk too. I don't mind talking to her about me or listening to what she has gone through either. "4.0 student, never done anything wrong but sleep during class and ignore the teachers. I still want your secret to success." Carrie joked making me smile over to the early thirty year old woman walking me to the cafeteria.
"When does break start? The seventeenth or nineteenth?" I stared at the calendar pinned to a pillar.
"Seventeenth Ness, tomorrow." She clarified rolling her eyes at me. "What are you planning for Christmas?"
"Sleep," I replied just smiling at the thought of a quiet night's rest. "You spending it with that hunk of a fiancé?" I laughed at Carrie's beet red face.
"Why don't you come over?"
"Nah, I'm good at my house." I answered sitting down as she went to the vending machines four steps away paying for some snacks. "I enjoy the peace and quiet, then I have to come back to this hell hole again."
"Six months of school then you're free, think about the future." Carrie dumped her hands full of snacks on the table and I grabbed the chocolate bar.
"The future scares me," I replied honestly. "It feels empty."
"Missing someone?" Carrie hit the bull's eye, right in the goddamn pupil. "I know the feeling, it gets somewhat better. You're getting a full-ride at the most rigorous university. You'll find that perfect man there."
"Hah," I scoffed a little at that.
"I'll visit, don't worry." Carrie promised.
Leaving school, I got into my perfectly tuned black Honda Accord, tinted windows and beautiful tires. Learning stick was like everything else I learned, it came to me. It made sense. I drove to my apartment, where I live alone and pay for all my necessities with the money I get from my parents that live in a mansion down in California. Don't blame them for abandoning me, my intelligence levels freaked them out and they are workaholics.
I'm pretty average, 5'6" on the dot. Brown, straight hair, brown eyes, pretty fit, and I'm a genius. When I was younger I learned that nature is more powerful than what we think it out to be. Though the past few centuries we have destroyed the world with greed and power. Technology is incredibly ridiculous, new inventions would be something on TV. Now we have it at the palm of our hands.
Taking a shower, I needed groceries before the stores got full with people doing last minute shopping for Christmas. I'm not religious, and I'm not one to follow people with my tail wagging. I don't work because I am not a drone and I am forced to attend school by the government or else I would just stay home and eat all day.
WinCo is just down the street so I don't bother wasting gas on something so tedious. I threw on a thick jacket and black boots before heading out in my pajamas. The weather isn't cold or warm, its perfect, regardless of the seasons being summer or winter. I'm only wearing clothes because I don't want to be shoved into a mental institution.
My hair was up in a bun, grabbing a cart I quickly went through the aisles looking for my food. I cook all time because it's better for my health and less money wasted. Paying I had six bags which I carried towards what I consider home for now. As I was nearing my block a giant black dog stared at me. A woman stood beside my car, I looked to my right and then back to them. The thing was that they weren't there anymore.
