Looking at his green eyes, I was captivated again. He really was my only true weakness and they would use it to their advantage. His blonde hair looked like a halo at the tips thanks to the sun's kiss. The breeze was strong, cold wasn't good for a pregnancy and we all knew Alyss needed to get out of here as soon as possible. We were surrounded though. Alyss is too close to her due date for us to do anything dangerous much less release power pressure around her.
To think, everything was just going perfectly. I turned to Rocco who was with his mate. I can't sacrifice anyone here, Necator is near but not close enough to make it in time. Everything needed to be done quickly and efficiently. Demonia getting my gesture, stood beside me and blocked Alyss' frail body with his. Rocco picked up Alyss, before anything could be done I summoned thirty eight dragon, one grabbed the couple behind me and vanished. Léon threw his spears from all over and Demonia made a barrier around all of us. Having to move quick I slammed my foot on the ground and used the rocks to catch the spears. The Dracos using the quick defenses shifted into their dragons went after Léon. Using Draco Virtutem, I used it as a shield to protect the five.
Léon sent a wave of green fire at them, underestimating his abilities, the brothers got burned and I teleported them with Bo, Kyran, Burkettos, the mates and Demonia. I was the last one there and I looked at Léon who stared at me emotionless. I needed this time alone. To understand and to end this all. I knew I would not be making this one alone, but I needed the short amount of time I had left.
"Léon," I called out to the man in front of me sadly. "Do you hate me?" I bit back a cry of pain when he just stood there without answering me. "Will killing me suffice for my actions?" Léon didn't respond making me fill with guilt and pain.
A familiar arm grabbed my waist and pulled me into his body. His all too familiar body was lacking his warmth I was so used to. Leaning into his chest his lips touched my ear.
"I love you too much to kill you," his voice sounded robotic making my chest clench in pain. "Give me your blood and I'll forget everything that happened." Léon handed me a glass capsule. He took a step back and I stared at Léon, a man I yearned for.
"What will you do with it?" I uncapped the capsule and pointed my sharp claw to my skin. "Answer truthfully and I will oblige no matter the answer."
"We plan to use it to resurrect the first Draconis Lunae, the one who wanted to rule. You are too soft, we need someone with an evil heart." With my mind I broke the capsule and used the shadows to my will. Léon was stuck in his place. "Release us!"
Digging my hand into Léon's stomach I pulled out a yellow substance. Necator came out from the trees, and helped me eliminate the spirits of the witch and necromancer. I burned them using every amount of prejudice I could hold without shifting and aimed it at them. Léon fell right on his face passing out as soon as we killed the two women.
Deus appeared and looked down at Léon, as I flipped him over checking his pulse. This is the man that held me captivated. This is the man, that I love very much.
The man I killed.
"He is healthy, though his powers were controlled by a witch, he should be able to learn how to control them." Deus looked at me as I lifted Léon with the wind. "Why aren't you smiling?" Deus stood in front of me as I sobbed.
"She can't pretend," Necator held the heads of two women. "She missed her mate too much, how can she not be happy." Necator butchered up the women's head and then burned them for me. "This is just her being too happy for words."
Arriving back at the castle, I had teleported Léon to my room and ran to hug Rocco who gladly hugged me back. Alyss was asleep on the couch.
"Is he dead?" Bo turned to me, then to the three men behind me.
"Not necessarily, he's just sleeping." Necator announced looking at Rocco who was hugging me. "We need to start preparing for the birth of the twins. Having used her dragons, the twins have woken to the response of their aunt's powers."
"You'll be delivering the boy?" Rocco didn't tear his gaze from Necator who nodded. "You'll bless him?"
"Yeah," Necator smiled at his son. "This time, two will make it, not one." That caught my attention making me let go of Rocco and turn to Necator. "Sorry." Necator turned to Alyss. "The boy will be coming out soon, take her to the infirmary, we will keep her there."
"How do you know?" Bo furrowed her eyebrows.
"Dragons who carry the child's blessing can sense when they are ready to come out, the reason why royals are needed is to contain problems and the newborn's extreme vulnerability to power pressure." Deus followed all of us into the very large infirmary room. "So everyone, including myself are not allowed to be here for either children. Let's go to the living room." Deus ushered everyone out. "Will you two be able go handle Rocco?"
"Alyss will need him," I told Deus who nodded before closing the door behind him. "Listen Rocco, no matter what happens, do not let go of Alyss. This is no longer a fight between siblings this is birth. Her shadows will try to kill her children until they are born. So right after the first I will shove the girl out even if she is not ready, I don't have enough energy to wait six hours for the girl to come out." I told Rocco who looked horrified at me. "Keep Alyss preoccupied with your love and this should work without any problems."
"You're going to go through the same thing that happened last time?" Rocco was talking about the Great Nix incident.
"No matter what, don't use your abilities, even to heal Alyss. If you do, it could cause one of your kids to die." Necator warned Rocco who was ready to faint.
Alyss woke up screaming and grabbing her round belly. Turning to Necator he shrugged, "maybe he's an early bloomer." He told us and I groaned gesturing for Rocco to hold her down.
Ripping Alyss' pants off, we propped her ready to deliver kids. Necator was on the end of grabbing the kids while I made sure to hold her shadows and keep the girl from attacking. Rocco let his mate dig her claws into his arms and damn he would have to heal his muscle when we got done.
I swear hours passed and Alyss wasn't even one done. Her shadows were getting stronger as her pain rose causing me to use the Draco Virtutem to a dangerous level. My eyes were already bleeding and my back was tearing because my body was ready to shift. Alyss screamed again and we heard the cry of a baby relieving me of some stress at some level. I had to work carefully as I moved to where Necator once stood and pushed the girl out of her space to take her out.
Blinking blood away, my vision became red as I lost more and more will. Necator quickly blessed the first born and I was losing too much to my own mentality. I was losing Alyss and Rocco's baby.
"Shay!" Necator shouted at me to continue. He wrapped the boy up in a blanket, he was crying for his sister. I could hear his loneliness. It broke my heart, using everything I had I managed to shove the baby out and cut the cord without a problem but I needed to bless her. "Shay! The blessing! Shay!!" I had the baby in my arms protecting her from my fall on impact. "Shay!!" Necator shouted at me to wake up.
"Shay!" A familiar voice snapped me out of the blackness and helped me to a sitting position. "Shay, the baby!" Opening my eyes my instincts led me as I stared at the girl in my arms.
"Benedicat infantem draco," I placed my hand over the baby girl who started to cry as soon as I finished. "We did it." I smiled down at the girl turning up to Léon who grabbed my hand reassuringly.
Léon handed the girl to Rocco and Necator handed the boy to Alyss who was in tears and in pain but most of all she was happy. I didn't have enough energy to go on, I smiled at the perfect picture before passing out.
Family, the thing I was born to protect and the thing I love the most. I did my job and I couldn't be happier with the turn out. I still sensed the evil around and I knew they would be after the newborn royal dragon twins.
I had a painfully great job.
