I sprinted up the mountain jumping over the gate and running until I had to stop to breathe. Something was calling out for me. I needed to be there, they were waiting for me. I stood on the flat surface of the mountain where there really shouldn't be a flat surface. I stared towards where the strong winds were coming from. There were eight giant figures coming towards the flat surface in which I standing on.

A person was on the giant black thing and I couldn't believe my eyes when I finally concluded what the eight were. Dragons.

Shay!

That name clicked in my head but that wasn't my name. It wasn't me.

Turning around a giant ass thing screeched at me. Walking backwards, my heart beat picked up. The things stalked after me and I felt overly useless. This thing is going to kill me for sure.

Move out of the way!

The thing raised its claw at me ready to kill me. A man caught its claw in his hand protecting me from the attack. His hair was so gold it was glowing. His back was broad and he looked extremely well built. Muscle complimenting every inch of his body. Two of the other dragons tackled the thing and the golden blonde turned around to me.

"Shay are you okay!?" He checked me and then met my gaze.

"My name is Vanessa," I told him. "Not Shay." His gaze fell with his expression. My heart fell with my whole being, who is this man.

"Are you okay?" He repeated meeting my gaze again. "It didn't land a hit?"

"I'm pretty sure you stopped him." I pointed to his hand which didn't have a single injury.

"Vanessa!" Dennis and Damien appeared then met the man's angry gaze. "Whoops."

"Sh-Vanessa," a male with crystal blue eyes and raven black hair smiled at me. "I'm your older brother, Nick." He hugged me and I felt the home in his arms so I hugged him back. "This is Léon, a good friend of the family." He introduced the man that had defended me and was now shouting at Dennis and Damien. "This is Alyss, and her husband Ricco." He introduced me to the most perfect couple, the girl had fiery red hair and her husband had hair like Nick and his eyes.

"Our brother?" I pointed at Ricco.

"No, actually, he's my son." Nick introduced and I shook their hands. "Their kids are actually the Red Twins."

"Nicolai and Nena," I pointed out which caught them by surprise. "I met them yesterday, nice bunch. So am I like your aunt? That's so scary, how old are you?" I turned to Nick who didn't look any older than thirty.

"Anyway, I'm hungry." Nick patted his stomach avoiding my questions.

"I will not move until I have answers to my various questions." I watched as everyone turned around shocked. "How did dragons become you?" I took a step back when Léon emerged to the front of the group. "What was that thing trying to kill me?"

"We are dragons," Léon answered and I raised an eyebrow at him. "That thing was a wyvern, very distant cousins of ours." He crossed his arms over my chest making my breath hitch, this man is too much of a man for me to stare at. "Anything else?"

"Yeah! Just one," I walked past them and to the front of the trail. "Where's the nearest police station? Actually, scratch that, I'm just going to leave." I took off before anyone could register what I had been planning.

I saw an arm and I moved out of the way only to slip. Falling on my face, I groaned when I stood back up. Léon looked furious, about ready to kill me. Smiling, I took off again to only be thrown onto his shoulder. We appeared at the beginning of the trail and I smacked his back trying to make him set me down.
