They stared at me as if I were the crazy one. I wasn't sure who was anymore. It had to be one of us though. Either me or them. I couldn't stop laughing at what Léon had just announced to me. I was not the woman on that portrait. That portrait looked ancient, beyond me.
"You do realize that what you says implies that I have gray hair and red eyes. I'm not albino, and I'm not ancient. I'm eighteen," I set my hands on my hips and suddenly felt surrounded.
Looking behind me I saw a familiar black giant dog with the same woman, eleven males and five other women.
"Oh my god, I'm not involved in a mafia am I?" I stared at them horrified. "Am I going to die?!"
"No!" Nena appeared with Nicolai who both shouted at me.
"Uncle Léon, would never let anyone hurt you." Nicolai told me and for some reason I got soft with them.
"No of course not," I kicked a spear up in the air and twirled in air kicking the end of the spear sending it flying at Léon who caught it. "Who are you!?" I growled at Léon who was the only one who would give me direct answers. "Why am I here? Is this some kind of joke!?"
"Shay!" That wasn't my name!
"Vanessa!" I hissed at them all. "I'm Vanessa not that woman on that portrait!" I shouted beyond pissed at them all. "You're all crazy!"
"Sh-Vanessa! We are trying to help you," Damien told me and suddenly his hair turned white and his eyes a light red. "My name is Demonia, your guardian." Taking a step back, I felt nauseous. I knew none of them were lying.
"Oh god," I felt whoozy and was about to fall. Somehow Léon managed to catch me. "Don't you touch me!" I grabbed my head in pain.
"Shay, your name is Shay and that's that, whether you realize it or not, you are what you are!" Léon growled down at me pinning me to the ground. "You listen to me, you are a goddess, a perfect queen, friend and woman! I will not let you leave me again!" Léon had extremely long and sharp canines, his eyes were glowing and I felt overwhelmed. "Shay, please remember." He eased and grabbed the side of my face lovingly. "Please." He pressed his forehead to mine, this man didn't scare me, I was scared of myself.
"Léon," Dennis grabbed his shoulder pulling him off of me. He looked dejected and it broke my heart. "We're sorry for trying to force locked memories, Vanessa." He spoke with much caution in his voice. "Let's stick to basics. You Vanessa are to be married to Léon in two weeks-"
"I'm not eighteen," I told them and Léon still wouldn't look at me.
"That doesn't matter, the law doesn't affect us. You'll marry Léon in two weeks, Saturday. He is in charge of your life from that moment, Léon will provide for you as well as love you. Even if you don't love him back." Well that hurt. "You will attend this school until the end of the year. Léon will be with you 24/7, if you need anything you go to him. If you have complaints you go to him. If you want to do something you go to him, you get the pattern?" I felt imprisoned. What is this. "If you run further than the gates, you will be punished."
"By you," I looked at Dennis who shook his head.
"By me," Léon stood up anger clearly rolling off of him. "Everything about you will be dealt with me." Léon grabbed my arm harshly and dragged me out.
We ended back up in the room, he simply threw me on the bed and forced me to sleep beside him. His arms were securely around my body making sure I wouldn't be able to move without him knowing about it. When he closed his eyes I got scared because I felt watched. Even though I was being forced to do all these things, Léon was my only source of protection. I pressed onto Léon trying to hide from the dark.
