She taps her pen on her desk, unable to focus on her science exam. She doesn't care about the rate a turtle's heart beats, just as long as it stays alive. That's all that matters, correct? It doesn't matter if all she thinks about is a band because that band saved her. Every time the name of a band member or a song lyric is said, her attention is immediately caught. That's how the brain of a fangirl works, after all. She stares down at the blank answer sheet with an hour still left to finish. She can't get their song out of her head, and as much as she loves it, she can't get distracted from her school work. She needs to pass this class. However, as she lightly and inaudibly taps her toe to the beat of the song in her mind, her thoughts drift farther from the exam, and she is happy. She isn't worrying about the turtle's beats per minute, she is off in la-la-land with a small, goofy smile tugging at her lips. At the top corner of the test, she makes a line, then a line with a half-circle bubbling to the right, and two sideways u's stacked on top of another facing the same way as the previous bubble.
"One-hundred ninety-three days," the girl mouths to herself, her eyes focused on the numbers on the top corner of the paper.
