Chapter 8: Missing

Jake's POV
I couldn't believe what I just heard. I don't have custody of my own daughter. I don't know what to say or do. I just had to get out of there. I start running down our driveway and I don't know where I'm going. I have no where to go. Where do I go? I guess I can run for a bit. I'm in pretty good shape. So I keep running. Eventually I'm in the middle of the mountains. I easily ran 20 miles. I just didn't realize because my mind is a blank right now. I look up and the suns going down. How long have I been running? I take out my phone and it's been nearly 6 hours. Wow I can run for a long time. I walk up the mountain and it's a lot harder than normal. My legs are dead. I go to the top and see a familiar group of letters. Did I really run this far?

6 hours before

Tessa: Jake! Jake wait!

Jake: *opens door and runs out*

Tessa: No no no no! Jake!

Jake: *starts running*

Tessa: I'm so dead.

Erika: Tess? What's wrong? Wh are you here? Where's Ky?

Tessa: Oh! Uh. Ky's fine. She's with Chance.

Erika: Oh good. I thought i heard screaming.

Tessa: Nope! No screaming! You must have been dreaming! Haha.

Erika: Okay? *walks to kitchen*

Chance: Tessa! *mouths* Where's Jake?

Tessa: *mouths* I don't know!

Erika: *walks back in* Hey! Have you seen Jake? I was wondering if he wanted to go out with me and Ky.

Tessa: Haven't seen him at all.

Kylee: Mommy! Mommy!

Erika: Hey munchkin! *picks up* How's your day been?

Kylee: Great! Aunt Tessa say how u and daddy met. Then daddy say me stay here with him!

Erika: Tessa?

Tessa: *trying to tell Kylee to stop* Yeah Rik?

Erika: Where is Jake?

Chance: Funny story actually-

Erika: Didn't ask you Chance. Where is he?

Tessa: We don't know.

Erika: What do you mean you don't know?

Tony: Tessa may have told him a bigggg secret!

Tessa: Really Tony!?

Erika: *puts Kylee down* What secret?

Tessa: I swear I didn't mean to. It just slipped out.

Erika: What did you say Tessa?

Tessa: I may have told him that he doesn't have custody of Kylee.

Erika: ...Tessa we talked about this! You were never supposed to tell him!

Tessa: Rik I know! But he's been one of my best friends for 3 years! I can't keep a secret that big from him! I already kept one of the biggest things in his life from him for 2 years!

Erika: But I trusted you with this!

Tessa: I know! And I'm sorry! But I can't lie to my best friend anymore! And you don't even know how badly he wants you 2 staying here!

Erika: We can't stay here because stuff like this will happen!

Chance: That's what you don't understand Rik! You're like my sister but you're way too uptight. Let loose a little bit.

Erika: And set a bad example for Ky? No way!

Tessa: Rik...Jake loves his daughter more than anything! And you keeping her away from him is not going to help! Rik...I love you, but you need to let Jake be apart of Ky's life. He already missed almost 3 years. It's not fair for him.

Erika: ...I know that.

Chance: What do you mean?

Erika: The last week here...has been one of the best weeks of my life. Seeing you guys, hanging out with you guys again...it's been amazing. And I don't want to leave. You guys are like my family. I'm just scared about what could happen. I know you guys won't let anything happen to Ky. And I know you wouldn't do anything to hurt her. I just don't want a repeat of 2 years ago.

Tony: You mean...Jake...leaving?

Erika: If he leaves again, what am I going to do? Take care of Ky and somehow make her forget about him!

Tessa: I never knew you felt like this. I'm sorry Rik. *hugs*

Erika: It's okay. But this is exactly what I didn't want to happen. Him leaving.

Tessa: ...That's my fault. And I'm going to fix it. TEAM 10!!

*Team 10 comes running into the living room*

Tessa: Jake's missing. So right now, I'm in charge. Because..this is my fault. So...Chance, Tony, and Rik. You're coming with me. Chance start the Tesla.

Chance: Got it. *grabs keys*

Tessa: Kade, and Nathan. I need you guys to watch Ky.

Kade: Got it.

Tessa: Nick, call Alissa. Tell her to look around Hollywood.

Nick: Got it.

Erika: Could he really get that far?

Tony: This is Jake we are talking about.

Tessa: Martinez, look around here to see if you can find him.

Emilio: Okay!

Tessa: Let's go guys! Team 10 go!

Chance: Cars started! Let's go guys!

Erika: Thanks again T.

Tessa: No problem E.
