The sound of the doorbell dragged me from my thoughts. Setting down my bottle of beer, I stood up from the couch and wandered to the front door. Even though the door had no windows, I knew exactly who was on the other side. Taking a deep breath, I unlocked the door and swung it open. A blast of cold air hit me hard as Jackson came into view. Holding up a case of beer, he gave me a small smile.
Waving for him to come in, he stepped past me and removed his shoes, leaving them by the door. "Kitchen's over there if you wanna put the beers in the fridge," I said, pointing in the direction of the kitchen. Jackson nodded, still not saying a word, and headed in the direction that I directed him.
Heading to the living room, I sat back down on the couch and waited. A few seconds later, Jackson collapsed down onto the couch beside me and sighed heavily. Holding his beer up, Jackson motioned for a cheers. Grabbing my bottle from the table, I clinked mine against his, giving off a small ting sound before we each took a big sip of our drinks.
"Where's Sam?" Jackson asked; his first words upon arriving.
Hoping this topic wouldn't come up, I groaned, "She, uh, she's living with her boyfriend. We had a disagreement."
Jackson nodded, "That sucks."
"Yeah." I sighed, wondering why we were both being so awkward.
Taking another large swig of my beer, I shifted my body to face Jackson. "All right, let's do this," I said.
"Do what?" he asked, confused.
"Drink, bitch, get things off of our chest." I replied, "Here, I'll go first. Sam moved out because she's getting a job in Florida and I didn't like it. To top that, she's selling the house so I have to find somewhere else to live."
Jackson smiled slightly before taking another sip of his drink and joining in. "I'm not trying to screw everything up." he sighed, "I just can't seem to get anything right. By now, I'm second-guessing everything, which is partly why everything I say is wrong."
About two hours later, both Jackson and I had downed multiple drinks. We were intoxicated, tipsy, and loving every minute of it. "Why does everyone just...just suck so much?" I asked, looking up at Jackson from his lap where I was currently resting my head.
"Beats me." he shrugged before chuckling, "The world is just filled with sucky people."
"Ha, yeah." I giggled, "But you don't suck."
Jackson nodded, "You don't either. You're actually one of the few people that I actually enjoy talking to and spending time with."
Trying not to blush, I smiled, "Thanks."
After the redness in the cheeks had gone down, or at least felt like it had, I stared up at Jackson again. Jackson stared back down at me, a small smile on his face. Sitting up, I leaned in and pressed my lips to Jackson's. Returning the kiss, he set his drink down and cupped my face with his hands. Quickly, things heated up, like it had in the car all those months ago; except this time, we were both drunk and we both wanted it.
Moving myself to straddle his lap, he trailed his kisses down to my neck. Then, all of a sudden, he stood up off of the couch, taking me with him. Wrapping my legs around his waist, I giggled as he slowly made his way to my bedroom. Once inside, he slammed the door behind us and almost threw me down on the bed. Jackson slipped his shirt off and I did the same. As he positioned himself over me, both of our pants still on, he gave a look of 'are you sure?' before we went any further.
Nodding, I smiled. At this moment, I wanted nothing more.
