Sam glanced at the man across the room. He and Dean had been undercover as FBI all day and for this case. People were dying in strange scenarios they should have been able to get out of easily, but when Dean had checked the bodies they found a paralytic toxin. Sam was supposed to be getting info on the victims but had noticed a guy that he was sure was following him.
Sam made his way to the guy who currently had his face buried in a book.
As Sam approached, the guy looked up, promptly slamming the book closed and covering it with a blank file folder.
"Uh," The guy cleared his throat glancing around nervously, "hey."
"Are you following me?" Sam asked blatantly.
"Huh?" The guy blinked his whiskey brown eyes at Sam in confusion. Sam would be lying if he said this guy wasn't cute.
"I've seen you like three times today," Sam commented trying to see what the book was this guy was hiding.
"Uh, yeah I noticed that. I swear I'm not, I'm just doing research for a school project. I'm Stiles," He held his hand out with an innocent smile.
Sam shook his hand, "What kind of school project? This guy didn't look young enough to be in high school.
"A paper on strange occurrences," Stiles shrugged.
"So your poking around federal crime scenes?" Sam asked.
"Federal?" Stiles titled his head in confusion.
Sam pulled out his badge, "He really didn't need this guy getting added to the victim's list.
Stiles looked at the badge and snorted a laugh, "Agent DeYoung?"
Sam furrowed his brows at Stiles.
"You're a hunter, aren't you?" Stiles asked looking up at Sam, "You must be a Winchester and I'm guessing you're the tall one, so you must be Sam."
"How do you...?" Sam shifted slightly before putting his badge away.
"I know a fake badge when I see one, also DeYoung, the Styx? Come on man." Stiles chuckled with a shake of his head.
"How do you know about hunters?" Sam asked taking a seat across from Stiles.
"I know a few," Stiles shrugged.
"Are you one?" Sam asked moving the file folder to reveal the book Stiles had had his nose before. A Bestiary. So much for school project.
"No, I just know a Kanima case when I see one." Stiles shrugged.
"Kanima?" Sam had never heard of a Kanima before.
"Yeah, I had a run in with one several years back in my old home town. Nasty little things," Stiles nodded.
"You knew my name, how?" Sam was curious about this guy.
"Like I said, I know a few hunters, also amidst my unending research I stumbled across a book series on you guys," Stiles explained as if it was the most natural thing, "You're taller than I expected," Stiles smirked.
"I get that a lot," Sam smiled back, "What hunters do you know?"
"Chris Argent, mainly, but I stumbled across Jody Mills a few months back, she helped me with a case," Stiles answered simply.
"You said you weren't a hunter," Sam frowned.
"I'm not, but I do the occasional case, if I recognize the monster," Stiles shrugged.
"You said we're dealing with a Kanima?" Sam asked.
Stiles pushed the Bestiary towards the hunter and opened it to the page he had been on, "They cut the back of the neck and it paralyzes them. They're claws are where the toxin is. It's a venom, it does ware off. They're controlled by someone, so far I have three possible suspects.
"Three?" Sam asked in surprise.
"Yeah, we have two victims and three people both of them had in common," Stiles explained.
"Let me call my brother, he'll want to hear this," Sam said pulling out his phone.
While Sam and Stiles waited for Dean to join them they got to know each other. Stiles knew pretty much everything about Sam, thanks to rumors and the books chuck had written. Sam however learned all about Stiles and how he was introduced to the supernatural. His story was fascinating to Sam and he found himself intrigued by the human. He rarely found anyone so interesting.
"So you're in college to become actual FBI?" Sam asked.
"Yeah, online mostly for now," Stiles nodded.
"It'd be nice to have someone in the know on the inside," Sam smiled.
Stiles grinned, "Yeah, I think so too, especially cause those fake badges are just sad," Stiles laughed.
"How did you know they were fake? We've used them on tons of people," Sam asked.
"I've been sneaking into places and using fake id's since I was thirteen," Stiles chuckled, "I know how to get keys and passwords and know all the tricks to getting the right badges and such. You're badge numbers are two numbers too long. They changed that about six months ago." Stiles explained.
"Good to know," Sam nodded, "You really seem to know your stuff, Dean'll be impressed."
"But are you?" Stiles asked glancing up with a flirty smile.
Sam's cheeks flushed lightly, "Yeah, actually," Sam smiled back.
"Maybe you can help us out with this Kanima and I can repay you with Dinner," Sam offered looking down at the book again.
"Hmm, I like that idea," Stiles agreed eagerly.
