Max climbed out and Billy and I remained in the car. He was angry. I took his hand and rubbed the back of it with my thumb.
"Billy. What's wrong? You know I don't think you have anything right." I said trying to lighten the mood.
"Yeah I know. It's that little brat gets on my fucking nerves." He said grabbing a cigarette before offering me one. I gladly took it.
"Don't worry about her, she's in school now and your here with me and your friends too." I said smiling. He returned my smile with a slight one.
We climbed out of his car into the full parking lot. It was loud but as soon as I pushed my hair out of my face to reveal my stitches people started whispering. I quickly notice everyone was talking about my eyebrow and covered it. Billy then cupped my face and pushed my hair back with a small reassuring smile. He took my hand and flipped off the guys who were closest to us talking about me. I went through most of the day with people asking what happened or if I was okay but I didn't care much. When lunch rolled around I made my way to the cafeteria alone. On my way I heard a flustered voice calling my name.
"Dani!" Steve called. I rolled my eyes and kept walking.
"Dani! Please!" He yelled I could tell he was running to catch up.
Sure enough he arrived at my side. He was out of breath and I was not in the mood to speak to him.
"Go away Steve." I said sternly.
"Dani please I-" I stopped him.
"Steve you punched me in the face and I had to get fucking stitches cause your stupid ass ring split my eyebrow." I said stopped and turning to him.
"I know and I am such a fucking idiot and I'm so sorry." He said as I started walking again , " I wasn't looking and I meant to hit Billy."
"Steve I was stopping Billy because I genuinely thought you might die. I thought you were going to fucking die so I stopped him." I said still angry.
"But Dani please you don't even know why we were fighting." Steve said. I skidded to a stop.
"Yes I do Steve! Billy told me!" I yelled.
"Wait you know and your still with Billy?" He said.
"What? Why wouldn't I be? Just because you said you could still have me? No I'm not that kind of girl Steve!" I said.
"What the hell are you talking about! We were fighting because I heard Billy and his friends talking about crossing girls off a list. And the one of the douches said that they bet Billy couldn't sleep with seven girls in the same week and Billy's friend Matt said that Billy was working his way to girl number 6 who was you, Dani! They had a bet to see how many girls he could get with and Billy was just using you so that he could say he slept with you and that's it." Steve said.
"Your lying." I said sheepishly. Steve shook his head.
I felt my tears whelming up. I was so mad and felt so stupid for trusting Billy. I was just a girl that not everyone could say they slept with and Billy wanted to change that. I pushed past Steve and made my way to the cafeteria. I pushed through the doors. I stood at the doors and scanned over the sea of people looking for Billy and his flock of douches. I saw the blonde mullet laughing with his friends and made my way to them. My heart was racing and my throat was dry I didn't want what Steve said to be true. I got to Billy's table and most of his friends stopped talking. Billy turned to me smirking.
"Hey babe wh-" Billy said smoothly before I cut him off.
"Was I girl number 6 this week?" I said calmly just above a whisper. His friends' faces dropped and so did Billy's.
"What? Dani what, why, what are you talking about?" Billy said shakily sitting up a bit.
"Billy Hargrove read my fucking lips. Was- I- Hook- Up- Number- 6- For-The-Week?" I said a little louder now.
"Dani I-" Billy said standing.
"Sit. The fuck. Down." I said slowly. He slowly sat. "Answer my goddamn question," I instructed.
"Yeah Billy answer her," Matt said laughing.
"Shut the fuck up, you fucking dirty pig," I said gritting my teeth. Matt made his mouth a circle and raised his hands. I turned my head back to Billy, who painfully shifted from looking at the floor to me.
"What did you think I wouldn't find out? I wouldn't hear it from someone? How were you gonna get 7 huh? Hm? Were you just gonna dump me and move on to the next girl? You a piece of shit. Take your goddamn jacket." I said ripping his jean jacket off of me and throwing it at him as I walked away. It hit him in the face. He stood up and walked outside and I heard one of his friends snicker.
"Crazy whore." Matt laughed.
I walked away with tears in my eyes. I hadn't even realized the whole cafeteria was quiet and everyone was focused on us. As I passed my friends Nancy got up and followed me out.
"Go on and cry now," Matt yelled again.
"Fuck you!" Jonathan yelled following us.
"Aw your little friends standing up for you? Boohoo!" Matt yelled at me again. That set me off the edge.
I stopped in my tracks and marched my way over to Matt's table. I stood in front of him and his smug face. With a completely blank face I took his lunch and spilled it down his letterman's jacket. I then took his soda and poured it over him. He wiped his eyes and stood angrily. I stood with him chest to chest.
"What are you gonna hit me?" I said unafraid.
"No Steve already did that for me." He said flicking my eyebrow. Nancy walked over and grabbed my arm before I could do anything.
"Talk a big game but you won't hit me Berkly!" Matt laughed.
"She won't but I will." Jonathan said punching him in the mouth.
