Taehyung—

When I walked into the front office I was expecting someone different to introduce themselves to me, as my new helper. Instead, I got a gruff good morning and a brief, "they wouldn't let me quit," from the one and only Jeon Jungkook. A wide grin cracked on my lips once I heard the younger's voice. "Oh? I see. Well, Mr. Jeon, it looks like you'll be stuck with me for the rest of the year." The other male sighed, deeply, "believe me, I tried really hard to get out of this."

I walked forward a bit, with my arm raised, expectantly. I felt Jungkook's rough, yet soft, hands close around mine, and pull me forward out of the office, into the noisy hall. I moved my hand from the younger's grip, to placing it on his shoulder. I knew that Jungkook cared about his school status, and I wasn't terrible enough to make it crumble down into bits, by making people think about him the wrong way. There must be a reason to why he needs to be popular. I've known the guy for at least a week, and he's not as bad as he seemed. I'd even catch some moments when he was incredibly sweet to me, and I thought that was cute. Yeah. There must be a reason to why he holds onto his popularity status so tightly.

Or maybe I'm just deluding myself, and believing in my own fantasies and lies. Maybe Jungkook isn't a good kid after all. Maybe he's just playing some kind of joke on me. Maybe he'll backstab me later, after I've let my guard down. Maybe...maybe...

The bell rang for first period and the sounds of shoes squeaking against tile floor filled my ears. Jungkook and I walked at a neutral pace, not really concerned about being late. The upside for being blind was that no one penalized you or your helper for being late to class. As long as it's not an incredibly long time, no one will get in trouble. We walked into the, already, busy classroom three minutes late, and the younger directed me to my desk, tapping my shoulder twice, signaling me to go ahead and take a seat.

Someone grabbed my shoulder from behind, making me instinctively turn my head. Jimin's cheery voice filled my ears, as he greeted the both of us. "Hey, Tae. What's up, Kook?" Jungkook replied with a short "hi," and stayed silent. I threw the thought of how the younger was acting abnormally strange out of the window. He might just be tired. I grinned, automatically, "I'm doing good, hyung, thanks. How was your morning?" The elder then proceeded to describe his terrible experience of catching his math teacher and the school's secretary making out in the classroom.

"It was so gross!" He exclaimed. "I just wanted to turn in my project, not get a show!" I laughed, finding his indignance adorable. "Are you boys working over there?" Mrs. Park called from her desk. "Yes, Mom!" Jimin called back. "We are now." I heard the teacher tsk, playfully. "Don't be cheeky with me, or I'll knock down a few points on your assignment." Jimin whined, lightly, at that, before I heard him lift up his pencil, and began scratching away at his paper.

I refused to let the lump in my throat become a sob. I will never be able to pick up a pencil and write words. I will never be able to see a blank piece of paper become something more. I will never see many things, but this is the life I will have to live. There's nothing that I can do about it. So, if it wasn't my fault, then there was no reason to cry. I did nothing to lose my vision. It was just unfortunate situations combining into one, and stealing something away from me. It wasn't my fault. It wasn't...so I can't cry. I can't let life beat me, because I don't lose. I don't...lose.

Silently, I slung my bag off of my shoulder, and ran my finger down the side to find the zipper. I propped the bag on my knees as I pulled out my laptop, and braille keyboard. My keyboard was the best money could buy, with all the new tech and dazzle. I ran my finger down the side of the laptop, and pressed the on button. I tapped Jungkook's shoulder, so he could set up the rest.

With the braille keyboard, you have to plug it into the laptop with a cord, and since I was at school, I needed to use earphones as well, so that I wasn't distracting someone. It was all such a hassle, but with all of the new advancements in technology, I needed to stay caught up with what was more convenient.
