Taehyung—
A yellowish glow pressed against my closed eyelids, causing me to stir from my sleep. I slowly blinked, letting my eyes adjust to the burst of color that filled my vision. Tentatively, I brought a fist up to rub at my heavy lids. I blinked my eyes a few more times, before a large shit-eating grin grew on my lips.
It truly is amazing to be able to see again. Absolutely the greatest feeling ever. After being blind for so long, I'd really forgotten how much color the world has. All the vibrant greens and yellows, and blues. Amazing was really the only word I could describe all of this with. Incredible, might come in as a close second, though.
A knock came at my door, making me swivel my head towards it. "Come in," I called, rising up into a sitting position. My mother's head poked inside, and she gave me a warm smile. "Good morning, darling." I returned the smile, and accepted the kiss to the top of my head. "Good morning to you as well, Mother." The elder woman sighed through her nose, contentedly, and cupped my face in her hands.
"Are you ready?"
Today was the first day I was going back to school, after my eye surgery. Today will be the first day I'll actually be able to see what the school looks like. Today will be the first day for many things, I should think. I nodded my head, firmly, in response to my mother's question. I was always confident even when I didn't have my vision, and now that I am able to see, I believe that my confidence has grown too much, that it's now just a large ego.
Mother ruffled my hair, before straightening up, to head back out. "I'll have to be going soon, but there's breakfast on the table, if you have time to eat it. Maybe if you hurry, you can catch your father before he leaves for work." With that being said, she softly closed my bedroom door behind her, leaving me to be alone again.
Sighing, I glanced down at my comfortable bed, before steeling myself to get out. Slowly, I treaded my feet towards the bathroom to wash up, and fix my hair. After I finished brushing my teeth, I glanced at the mirror, to inspect the mass of silver locks, and incoming black roots, atop my head. Looks like I'll be needing to have another dye job soon.
With laziness being the largest factor of my decision, I concluded with splitting my part down the middle, and running a brush through the tangled strands. Once I made it look presentable enough, I trudged out of the bathroom, towards my closet.
When I entered, I'd noticed there was already a set of clothes, hung up near the front. It was most likely my mother's doing. She probably just wanted me to wear this outfit on the first day back. Shrugging, I slipped off my pajamas, and grabbed for the silky red button up and black skinny jeans. Once I was dressed, I put on a set of earrings, to fill up the many piercings that I had. After fitting a silver, dangly, earring, I inspected myself in the closet mirror, one more time, before heading out of my room.
I quickly ate breakfast, and bid my father goodbye, as he rushed out of the house, bagel between his teeth. I set the dishes in the sink, before striding down the main hall of the house, and stooped down to grab my backpack, which was, conveniently, placed right next to my shoes.
Slipping my feet into my loafers, I slung my bag over my shoulder, and headed outside, where a mirage of more colors greeted me. A smile curled on my lips, without my noticing, as I walked down the front steps, and towards the large iron gates. A beep of a car horn signaled for my attention, and I grinned widely when I realized that it was Jungkook waiting for me. Not being able to contain my excitement, I slightly jogged over to his car, and hopped inside, with just as much vigor.
The younger leaned over from his seat to press a light kiss on my lips. "Good morning, angel," he smiled warmly. I chuckled, and reach over to pinch his cheek. "Good morning, Kookie." After staring at me for a moment longer, the other male backed out, and began the drive to school. "You know, you wore that outfit the first day I ever saw you?" Jungkook asked, as he turned out from my neighborhood. I raised my eyebrows, interested. "Really? Well, back then I just had someone pick my clothes for me, so I really didn't know what I was wearing."
Jungkook gave me a quick smile, before pulling into the school parking lot. "Well, that was what you were wearing. Even the same earrings." There was a pause of silence, as the younger parked his car. "You know...this is kinda cheesy, but the moment I first ever saw you, it was love at first sight." I blushed at the other male's words, and lowered my head, in attempt to hide my flaming face. "I thought you hated me, though?"
I heard the aforementioned chuckle, before he reached over to pinch my chin between his fingers, and lift my head. "The first time I ever saw you was before school, and you and your mom were about to head inside."
So that was before we had our little dispute in the hall, I thought to myself. Jungkook surprised me from my thoughts with a quick peck on my nose. "Come on, angel. Let's get going." I nodded, dazed, and followed the younger, with my eyes, as he walked to my side of the car, and opened the door for me. When I made no move to get out, the other smirked, and tilted his head to the side. "What? Can't stop staring at my handsome face?"
Snorting, I unbuckled my seatbelt, and got out of the car. "Please, if anyone's the handsome one here, it's me." Jungkook threw his arms around me, from behind, and drew me to his chest. "Wrong. I'm the handsome one, and you're the gorgeous one." I felt my face flush, and I tried to pry myself out of the other's arms. "Damn you, and your muscles," I grumbled. Jungkook kissed the side of my temple, and nuzzled his face into the crook of my neck. "You love them."
"I love you."
"I love you more."
"Stop lying."
"How could I lie about loving you more?"
"I love you more!"
"Whatever makes you sleep better at night."
Instead of replying to the younger, I twisted my head back to press my lips against his. My heart felt warm, as he returned the kiss, arms tightening around me. Everything had turned out better than what I had ever wished for. I couldn't possibly be happier than I am in this moment, right here. After everything I went through, don't I deserve this bubbling feeling in my chest? Don't I deserve to feel happy?
When we pulled apart, Jungkook leaned his forehead against mine, panting slightly. "I love you, Taehyung."
I smiled, and sighed, lightly.
"I love you too, Jungkook."
Let's make more memories together.
You and me.
