Taehyung—
I sighed and raised my arm, feeling raindrops fall on my palm. Mr. Lee had sent a message to the school, earlier, to inform me that he'd be late to pick me up, due to the weather. It's been a full twenty minutes since I've been waiting outside, since the building was locked down. School ended ten minutes before that. The traffic must be really bad if I had to wait for thirty minutes.
Breathing out, I leaned against the pillar, not knowing what to do. Usually, I'd be home already, reading a book or doing my homework. Here I can't do anything, but stand, listening to the sound of the rain pattering against the pavement, and the sound of car tires splashing puddles of water on the roads. I don't particularly like rainy days. It wasn't the cold or the wetness that bothered me. It was just because I'm not very able to go or do whatever I want, outside. My parents believe that I'd slip and fall and hurt myself if I ever went out unaccompanied, whenever it rains.
There was nothing to do, but think. Think and get lost inside my own brain. Get lost inside the darkness and depths of nothing. No pictures that could connect with words. No image to tie with the memory. Nothing, nothing, nothing. It was all just nothing, and that was what frustrated me the most. To have lived in those memories, but have nothing to replay in my mind about them, because I didn't see a thing. I couldn't see a thing.
The feeling of despair and overwhelming sadness brimmed in my chest. I should think of something else. Think of something else, Taehyung. Think of something else. Stay positive. You're fine. You're fine. You're...fine. Fine, fine, fine, fine, fine.
You're fine.
You're—
A cracked sob pulled me away from my thoughts. No, no, no, no, no. I can't cry. Especially here, I can't cry here, at school. What if someone saw me? No one can see how weak I really am. I'm not a baby. I'm sarcastic. I'm witty. I'm tough. I'll laugh at life right in its dumb face. I won't bow down, so why, oh why, am I still crying?
Quickly, I wiped my face with the sleeves of my sweater, feeling the soft material scratch at my eyeballs. I sniffed, trying to stop my lips from quivering. I'd be damned if someone saw me crying. No one can see me so vulnerable. No one is allowed to see how broken I really am. Despite having lost my vision, I'm the perfect son. I'm the perfect student, I'm the perfect everything, everything, everything. I'm perfect, no one is allowed to see that inside...that inside, I'm just shattered.
"Oh? So, the pretty boy is still here," I heard a voice sneer, from behind me. I turned my head, towards the direction where I heard the male speaker. I raised an eyebrow, hearing several pairs of footsteps come towards me. "Rumor has it that you're blind," the same voice breathed into my face. I smiled, wryly, "and what if I was? What are you going to do?" The guy chuckled, his breath hitting my face. "You're a confident guy, for someone who can't see." I scoffed, "just because I can't see your ugly mug, doesn't mean I don't know where to hit it."
The other male chuckled, "you're just asking for a beating, aren't you?" I crossed my arms, "I'm not asking for anything." Someone shoved my arm, harshly, which only made me grin widely. "Oh? So we're actually going to get physical? Hmm, I'm new though. I don't want to taint my clean record, just yet." Suddenly, both of my arms were held back, locking me in place. Sighing, I nodded down at the bag dangling, precariously, on my shoulder. "You damage my Gucci, I'll sue. Just saying. There's really nothing special in my bag, if you're looking," I grinned, turning my head to face whoever was digging inside it. The movements stopped, making me tilt my head.
"So...are you going to hit me, or are you going to steal my textbooks? Just so you know, there are security cameras filming you, so even though I can't see your faces, I can still report you. Who are they going to believe more? Some delinquents, or the poor new, blind, kid?" The male, who seems to be the leader of this group of three, scoffed. "If you're trying to threaten us, it's not working." I grinned, widely, "oh, that wasn't a threat. It's just a warning." I ripped one of my arms away, to punch whoever was digging through my bag again. I smirked, when I heard them groan in pain. "Ooh, that felt like a nose, did I miss your eye?"
I ripped my other arm away, and set my bag down, beside the pillar. "If you want to fight me, at least let me fight back, fair and square." One of the boys growled, "I'm already sick of this piece of shit." The main guy snorted, "go ahead and pound him. See if your pretty mouth can keep talking with a split lip." Sighing, I placed a hand on my hip, "technically, you can still talk with a split lip." My ears perked, when I heard heavy footsteps coming from my right. I stepped to the left, feeling a rush of air brush past my ear. "Mmm, too slow," I taunted. The hair on my left arm raised, when I felt a presence beside me. I lifted my arm, on instinct, and grinned when my punch made a landing.
I'll have to admit, I was doing pretty good, despite the huge disadvantage I was at, yet my success was short lived. Someone managed to land their knuckles on my cheek, making my hand fly up to my face, trying to ease the sting. "You finally, managed to hit me," I chuckled, dodging another blow, only to get kicked in the back of my knee. I fell to the ground, accepting that I'll just have to fend myself as best as I could till someone saw what was going on and stop everything.
Something that felt like someone's shoes whacked me across the face. I raised my arms to cover my head, and swiped my leg around, successfully resulting in someone falling to the ground. "Tch. I'm on the floor, yet you still didn't see that coming?" I mocked. "Argh, fuck you!" I grinned, widely, when I felt someone grab my hair and lift me up. "No thanks, I bet your dick is about as big as your confidence."
I took my chance, to pull my arm back and land a punch on my captor's face. "Ooh, that felt like an eye this time."
"YOU LITTLE SON OF A—"
"Don't you dare curse my mother, you rat!"
"BITCH!"
I took a deep breath, before smiling, way too widely. "Okay, so you're going to die. Any last words?"
Before anyone could say anything there was a loud shout, from behind me. "Hey! What do you idiots think you're doing?" I groaned, when I recognized the voice. "Oh, great, it's Jungkook," I grumbled. Of all people, why did it have to be him? The other boys seemed to be scared of Jungkook, since the sounds of running footsteps began to fill my ears, once I heard a familiar pair of boots walk up from behind me. "I was about to beat the living and dead shit out of that bastard," I whined, pouting. The younger scoffed, "yeah, right. Look at you! You got a bruised cheek!" Scoffing, I reached my hand out, and walked forwards till I reached the pillar, and fumbled for my bag. "I swear, if they stole my Gucci bag, I'll skin them and make a new leather jacket," I grumbled.
"This your bag?" Jungkook asked, I straightened up, and raised out my palm. The familiar strap came into contact with my palm. I grinned, "thanks, Kookie." He snorted, "you're happy about me handing you your bag, but not about me stopping you from becoming a limp potato sack?" I nodded, enthusiastically, "yep! Gucci first." The younger sighed through his nose, before placing a hand on my shoulder, and leading me back to the pillar. "Why don't you sit down?"
Just when I was about to chew the latter out about how expensive my pants were, a horn beeped three times, signaling me that it was Mr. Lee. "No thanks, that's my ride," I said, heading towards the sound. "You ride in a car like that?" Jungkook exclaimed. "Uh...yeah," I replied, turning back to send the younger a wide grin. I felt hands grab my face, tilting my chin up. "Who did this?" Mr. Lee demanded. "Was it that boy behind you?" I gently, pulled the elder man's hands away from me. "I'm fine. Jungkook actually came and stopped things before it could get worse." Mr. Lee sighed before patting my shoulder, and helping me in the car.
I rolled down the window, as my chauffeur headed back to the front of the car. "Thanks, Kookie! I owe you one!" I grinned, waving. The younger scoffed, "don't call me that!" I gave him an exaggerated shrug, "like I said. It sounds better when I say it!" I felt the car jolt, and waved one last time. "Bye!" I didn't hear if he replied, and rolled the window up, fumbling for the seatbelt.
"Is he a friend, sir?" Mr. Lee asked, casually.
"Hmm, an acquaintance maybe?"
"He's not bad, I guess."
