1. Emily wants to go on a journey so bad, but her father won't let her go off on her own
2. Emily's father is very protective of her
3. Jason loves his father's Torterra, and plans to choose Turtwig as his partner

5. Emily's mother convinced her husband to let their daughter travel through Hoenn
6. Emily travels with Riptide- competing in contests and gyms
7. Jason is jealous that his sister gets to go on her journey
8. Emily and Jason are seven years apart (Jason is 9 and Emily is 16)
