Trina's point of view
Pulling weeds trimming bushes and trees should be outlawed, I think as I yank on another large deeply rooted plant, failing miserably at getting it to budge.
"That isn't the way that's done Trina," Levi chuckles as he steps up behind me, looking down at the plant like it's a puzzle to be solved.
I stand up straight, placing my filthy hands on my hips, "Then show me how it's done, jack ass," I kid and step aside, so he can get to the weed. He takes a step closer to the weed before turning on his heals and walking away, laughing at me.
"Like I said, Jack ass," I say to his back before tugging on the weed again.
"Move," I hear him say as he comes up behind me with a shovel dragging carelessly behind him.
He digs all the way around the plant before yanking it out of the ground. "Voila," he says with a bow. I can't help but laugh, even though I'm irritated with the fact that he showed me up.
We both turn when we hear a vehicle coming up the drive. Dirt flies through the air, as the tread from the tires lift it and spit it back out creating clouds that seems to follow the truck a bit before they slowly settle. At one time the driveway had been covered in rock. The rock slowly began to sink into the sand and dirt until there was nothing left of the rock as it was claimed by the land itself.
Alex stops the truck and jumps out. He glares at Levi for a moment before making his way over to us. "Levi, I see your nose is still attached."
"Not that you didn't try to remove it," Levi snaps back before a smile settles back on his handsome face. Levi is a good-looking man with dirty blond hair that falls into his eyes from time to time and lands just at the base of his neck in the back with a slight curl. His deep green eyes remind me a bit of the moss that grows on some of the trees around here. His jawline isn't as well defined as Alex and Mason's, it's subtler, a bit softer, but still sharp enough making his face more manly than boyish. His features are pleasing to the eye when they aren't marred from two black eyes from the busted nose he's now suffering at the hands of Alex.
Alex turns his attention to me. "Trina."
"Alex," I say wondering what's going on with him and what he's doing here in the middle of the day?
I watch as he turns back to Levi, "Levi, can we have a talk?"
"Sure, step into my office, Levi jokes as he waves toward the house, that's currently under construction. These guys around here don't stay mad long after they've been in a fight. It's actually quite strange the way they can beat on each other and still remain friends.
"No Levi, I'd rather you take a ride with me." Alex says pointing to his truck.
"What's up Sherriff?"
"I just have a few questions, it wont take long and you'll be back here working on my house in about an hour if not sooner."
"Alex," I say his name trying to catch his attention. "What's this about?" I ask, half afraid I already know what it's about.
"I'm just doing my job Trina. Come on Levi, you can wow me with your plant slaying skills while we ride to my office."
I watch as Levi heads to the truck, his head hung, worried about what Alex wants to talk about. I grab Alex's arm before he can get too far away from me.
"Alex, please tell me?"
He turns grabs both of my arms and looks me in the eyes. "I'm questioning every man that was on the island that night, so don't stress. Pick your weeds you contractor will be back soon, unless he gives me reason to believe he may be a danger, then I will let you know."
