I walked out of the hotel room, emotionless.
It was better this way. It was better to feel none of the emotions that were holding me back. Love, happiness, excitement, sorrow- they crippled me. I only needed anger and numbness. They would help me achieve my goal without any distractions from my past emotions.
My goal was to destroy the Haze. They will feel the pain I have felt these past six months. They will not succeed in their mission to slaughter all of humanity.
I walked around the empty streets, searching for a store to find leftover food in. I rounded a corner and saw a Publix, tall and mighty, before me. I darted into the grocery store, knowing I would find a lot of goodies in here.
I grabbed a discarded cart and began to walk around the empty store. Surprisingly, there was a lot of food left here. I began shoving numerous items into the cart.
I swiped all the bags of chips, crackers, and goldfish I could see. I snatched boxes of dry cereal and tossed them into the cart. I grabbed fruit snacks and Poptarts off of the shelves. I looted the store until my cart was full and almost spilling over.
I began to walk out the front entrance when I saw the candy aisle. I walked down it and saw a stand full of gummy bears. For some reason, I felt obligated to take them. I added them to my cart and walked out of the store.
I knew something was following me as soon as I stepped out of the store. I could feel someone's eyes boring into the back of my head. I looked around behind me, but I didn't see anyone. I began to walk faster, scared that I was going to die.
I moved my hand to my side, but realized I had left both of my guns at home. I cursed under my breath and quickened my pace even faster.
I was snatched up by the neck quickly. I struggled as I was turned to face the attacker. It was a Hazer. I began to struggle even harder as the male Hazer smiled menacingly at me.
"Master will be pleased that I found you," the Hazer purred, getting close to my face.
Suck the Haze out, a voice whispered in my mind.
Without a second thought, I pressed my mouth to the Hazer's and sucked the air from his mouth. I inhaled until I was dropped from the Hazer's arms.
I was confused for a moment before the blue Haze surrounded me. I couldn't see anything but the Haze. It swirled and pulsed around me as I watched it.
Suddenly, it flung itself to me. I flinched as it oozed into my skin. I fell to the ground as it poured into my body. I convulsed on the cement as I felt the blue energy course through my bloodstream. I inhaled sharply as the transformation was completed. The thick blue Haze evaporated until it was a simple blue mist floating around me.
I slowly pulled myself to my feet. I flicked my gaze to the tiny human at my feet. He was staring up at me, his face full of fear. I grabbed him by this neck and lifted him in the air as he had done to a few moments before. His eyes widened as I began to squeeze his neck.
"Puh- puh- please! St-stop!" He choked out, clawing at my hands.
I smiled menacingly at him. In one swift motion, I snapped his neck and threw him to the ground. He stared at the sky with lifeless grey eyes.
I had become a Hazer.
