Listen to the song on the side as you read if you can. It goes along perfectly with what this chapter is about. It's also just a very pretty song, so listen to it even if you don't listen to it as you read. Thanks! :)

I slowly opened my eyes and took in my surroundings.

I was in a room with dark red walls and dark wooden floors. There was a black couch against one wall and a golden chandelier hung from the ceiling. I was seated on a black love seat with a pale arm draped over my shoulder.

I whipped my head to the person next me, scared I had been kidnapped or something.

Clear blue eyes gazed into mine, and I released the breath I was holding.

"Brex," I sighed, "it's just you."

Brex pretended to look offended. "Just me? I thought I meant more to you than that."

This was the fourth night in a row he had visited me. Each time, it was a different place, and each time, I got more comfortable with him and he with me.

I rolled my eyes as I stood to face him. "What am I doing here? Where is here?"

Brex crossed his arms as he looked up at me. "This is my room. You're here because I want to talk to you."

My eyebrow shot up. "About what?"

He slowly stood, towering over me. "Maybe I just want to talk. It doesn't have to be specific."

I held up my hands, as if to ask him to shoot. He smiled as he spoke. "How are you doing, Maia?"

I raised an eyebrow. "Not good. Damien still has burns on his hands that are too severe to hold a gun, which means we can't attack you and your army."

He stared at me for a second, an amusing glint in his eyes. After a few seconds of just staring at me trying to fight a smile, he bursts out laughing.

I frowned at him. "What?"

He calmed down his laughing enough to smirk at me. "I'm just happy to see my charm worked."

I rolled my eyes. "That was really conceited. If you wanna pick up a girl, don't use that as a starting line."

He laughed at me once again. It was cute, because I noticed he had dimples. I hadn't noticed them before, which was weird. It took everything in my power not to reach out and poke them.

"I'm not talking about that kind of charm, and I've never charmed anyone in my life, and from the looks of it, I never will," Brex said. At the end of his sentence, I could see the pain in his eyes. I wonder what that means.

Thinking out loud, I asked, "What do you mean?"

He shook his head, the heartache in his eyes disappearing. "Nothing. Anyway, the charm I was talking about was the one I put on you."

My eyebrows furrowed. "What?"

He smirked. "I put a charm on you so that asshole you're traveling with can't touch you."

I gasped and shoved him down on the couch so i could tower over him. "You what?" I growled.

His eyes widened at first, but then narrowed into a glare as he stood up so I couldn't tower over him anymore. "I said, I charmed you so that asshole you're traveling with can't touch you."

I glared up at him. "I got that, but why did you do it, stupid?!"

His glare should have intimidated me, but I wasn't backing down. "Because I didn't want him to touch you! Is it that too hard for you to understand?"

My hands clenched at my sides. "But it's not your place to decide who can and can't touch me! I don't even know why you keep coming to see me!'

He glared down at me without speaking. I glared up at him with just as much intensity. After a few moments of us just glaring at each other, he finally broke our staring contest and wiped a hand over his face. His eyebrows furrowed as he thought.

He finally sighed and turned back to me, confused look on his face. "I don't know either," he whispered.

I stopped glaring and raised an eyebrow at him. "What?"

He groaned, placing his head in his hands as he sat down on the couch. "I don't know why I keep visiting you, or why I put that charm on that douchebag the first day I came to you. I don't know, Maia. I just keep wanting to see you; I want to see your smile and hear you laugh every minute of every day, but I can't. I don't know what's wrong with me, but I don't care. If it means I can see you, then I would jump into an active volcano, for you."

By the end of his speech, he had stood from the couch and grabbed my shoulders, and he stared into my eyes with his clear, sparkling blue ones. I felt as if he was peering into my very soul with them as we gazed into each other's eyes. The raw emotion that his eyes portrayed made my heart flutter. I knew he wasn't lying.

And, suddenly, my eyes were opened. His smile made my knees go weak. The dimples he had flashed earlier made the zoo erupt in my stomach. His height made me feel like I was precious to him somehow. The muscles I had just begun to notice rippling through his shirt made me blush like I had just ran a marathon, and his wavy white hair made my hands twitch, itching to run my hands through it.

What got me the most was his eyes. They were bluer than the seven seas, and they sparkled like freshly cut diamonds. As I gazed into them, I saw my whole life floating in them. It was like I could see his soul, and it molded into mine perfectly.

My eyes widened as I finished my mental examination of Brex. He was staring at me the same way, probably coming to the same conclusion I was.

One of Brex's hands cupped my cheek softly as his warm eyes gazed at me. "All this time, I searched for you, and here you were."

I smiled even though I was confused. "What?"

"I've been searching for my soul mate for over one hundred years. I've gone from planet to planet, desperately trying to find her. See, we Hazes believe in soul mates, but I could never find mine, no matter where I went. My brother assured me I would find mine, and he would find his, but I was beginning to lose hope," he told me. "Then I find you here. It's a dream come true for me."

I smiled at him. "I'm so happy I found you."

He smiled down at me, setting his forehead against mine. "Me, too."

Before we could say anything more, I was shaken.

"That damn asshole!" Brex growled.

I stroked his cheek. "It's okay. I'll see you tomorrow, in my dreams."

He smiled at me once again. "I love you, Maia."

I grinned at him. "'I love you' doesn't even begin to explain how I feel for you, Brex."

He smiled at me and planted a kiss on my forehead before Damien shook me awake.
