I went to a National Guard Armory that was in the tiny town and grabbed some gear. I grabbed a small pistol, a machine gun, and a bullet proof vest. I loaded ammo in my pockets and walked back outside.
It was getting late outside as I walked towards the road, but I knew I couldn't stop to sleep. I had to get back to Maia. I knew she felt alone, and even with Damien there, she's lying awake, crying her heart out.
I had to get to her.
I began to sprint, hoping I could catch up with them before morning.

I ran until sunrise, glad I had taken track before this all happened. I never caught up with them, even when I entered Dallas city limits. I searched the town, ducking behind random objects when I saw a Hazer.
I searched all of the hotel and motel buildings, thinking they may have stayed there, but there wasn't a trace of my endangered sister and our companion. I was beginning to worry they had already stalked into the Haze headquarters when I bumped into a wall.
The wall turned out to be a Hazer.
It was male, with ice blue eyes and blinding red hair streaked blue. The host was built, like he had been a body builder. He was also tall; I had to crane my neck to look him in the eyes.
It flashed its blue eyes at me, surveying me. "You are the Strong One's sibling, are you not?"
I gulped and nodded slowly.
It flicked its gaze around me, taking in out surroundings. "Where is she?"
My voice shook as I spoke. "I-I-I'm trying t-to find her."
Its eyes quickly returned to mine. "You have separated?"
I shook my head. "N-no. We accidentally got separated; it was not our choice."
He nodded. "Well, you will be of great use to us."
Before I could think to say anything, he tossed my weapons away and threw me over his shoulder.
"Hey! Put me down, you, you...." I paused to think of something, "you imbecile!"
He chuckled. "That's the best you can think of? Being hundreds of years old, I've been called worse."
I crossed my arms and wondered if its host was this rude. He was cute.
I huffed as I watched our surroundings. "Why do you need me?"
The Hazer kept walking as he spoke. "Well, the Strong One will want you back, so you will be bait."
As he spoke, we walked through a large building. It looked like it was an office before, but now it was a home base for this alien species.
"Her name is Maia, you oaf," I corrected, wanting something to fill the silence. I decided not to let him know Maia didn't know I was alive. He could be of great use to me if I can get inside the Haze headquarters.
He paused in his stepping, but continued after a moment. "We call her the Strong One because she could be the end of our race."
I scoffed. "Because she's badass and you guys are stupid and weak."
He chuckled once more as he took me into a room. "I guess that is one way to put it. We did name her the Strong One for a reason."
I sighed loudly. "Can you please call her Maia? Her name isn't 'the Strong One'. It's Maia."
He set me down in a chair in the room. I looked around to see what I had to hit him with.
Nothing. The room was empty besides the chair this Hazer was strapping me into.
I pulled against my arm restraints as I realized this. "Is this necessary?"
He nodded. "Yes, you may try to escape, and I will call the Strong One Maia if it makes you comfortable."
I nodded, wondering why he was showing me kindness.
He pulled out a phone- why do they have phones?- and hit the call button. It ran once and a voice rang out from it.
"Yes?" It spoke.
The Hazer cleared his throat. "I have the Strong One's sister. I assumed we could use her as bait to draw her to us."
I snarled. "Her name is Maia, stupid! You said you would call her that!"
He waved me away with his hand as the phone spoke again.
"Good job. You take care of her since you found her," it commanded.
The Hazer nodded to the phone. "Yes, sir. She will not leave my side."
I blushed as he said that. He may be trying to destroy the human race, but his host's body was gorgeous.
The person on the other end of the phone hung up swiftly after that, leaving silence.
The Hazer stood up and went to leave.
"Wait!" I called out, causing him to turn around.
"Yes?" He asked, staring at me intensely.
I blinked, forgetting what I had to say. "What's your name?" I asked, quickly recovering.
His gaze turned to the ground as he spoke. "You may call me J."
Then he was gone.

Luckily, I know all of the answers. :)
