I screamed in my mind as Maia tried to get me back.

"Maia, I'm here! I'm not gone!" I screamed at her, but the Haze had more power than me.

"She isn't coming back. Your Lucy is gone," it spoke instead.

"No, Maia, I'm here! I swear, I'm alive!" I screamed, buti it was no use. The Haze was too strong. My mind was weaker than it.

I pounded against the walls of my mind, trying everything in my power to get out. The Haze had trapped me in my own mind; it imprisoned me in a thick cell, not letting my voice escape.

As I was effortlessly trying to escape, the Haze continued to talk to my sister. I watched and listened as the next words out of my sister's mouth sent shivers down my spine.

"I'm sorry Lucy," Maia whispered.

Then she snapped my neck.

"NOOOO!" I screamed as pain erupted through my body.

The Haze evaporated from my body, leaving me in control again. I stared at my sister with lifeless eyes as she screamed and cried for me. I watched as Damien soundlessly wrapped his arms around Maia as she screamed my name over and over.

I watched her until black flooded my eyes and I passed out, leaving my sister.

***

I slowly opened my eyes to a pure white light. I blinked hard as I took in my surroundings.

There wasn't anything here but a blinding white light. I glanced down to see what I was standing on and almost screamed.

I was floating.

I frantically looked for something to stand on or a door to go through, but there was nothing but whiteness. I nearly jumped out of my skin when I saw a silhouette standing close to me.

"Who are you?" I asked the mysterious person.

The stranger came closer until I could see who it was, and I gasped.

It was my mother.

"Mom!' I smiled, throwing myself into her arms.

She wrapped her arms around me tightly, hugging me back. "Lucy!'

I pulled back after a few moments and stared at her. She was exactly how I remembered her and how Maia drew her all the time. Her dark brown hair fell to her shoulders, and her brown eyes held a smile. She smiled at me with her thin lips and shining white teeth as I took her in, I smiled broadly as I held her. I had my mom back.

But that means I really am dead.

Mom must have noticed my smile falter because she placed a hand on my cheek. "Yes. Lulu, you are dead. But I am taking you back so you can stop your sister."

I furrowed my eyebrows. "Stop her from doing what?"

She smiled sadly. "Lulu, I have seen the future. After Maia defeats the Haze, she is going to kill herself because she believes she has nothing left."

I shook my head. "But she has Damien; he won't leave her."

"No, he won't do it willingly, but he will. The Haze will take him captive as they escape, leaving Maia with nothing."

I frowned. "Why would they want Damien?"

Mom sighed. "They somehow know I am sending you to stop Maia from ending her life, so they are going to trick her into following them to their home planet, where they can capture and analyze her."

My jaw dropped. "But-"

My mother grabbed me by the sides of my face. "Listen, Lucy. Once I send you back, you have to go to Dallas and stop her from killing herself and try to save Damien. I'm counting on you, Lucy, because if you die a second time, there is no going back."

I nodded as my mother tapped my forehead with her index finger. "I will, Mom."

As my mother faded and black filled my eyes, I heard my mother whisper, "I love you Lucy. Protect Maia."

***

I woke up with a jerk, feeling my neck. It was perfectly fine, straight and not broken.

I smiled as I found my shotgun on the ground and picked it up. I bet Maia left it because it was mine, and it would remind her of me.

But I'm going to save her if it kills me.

Oh ma lerd, what a chapter. Who's happy I brought Lucy back? *raises hand*

I know this chapter was short, but I thought people would be ecstatic that I brought Lucy back so it didn't matter how long the chapter was. :)

I was chewed out by my best friend yesterday because of Lucy's death, so I found a  way to make her happy. It works out for the best anyway, because now the story will be even longer! *cheers!*

I'm completely lying. There's just gonna be a sequel to it. Yay to that, though!

That's it for me. See ya!
