Detective Kelly: I'm Detective Maureen Kelly. You're Jesse's mother, Tara, correct?
Tara: Yes.
Detective Kelly: Where were you the night that Jesse died?
Tara: Reno, where I live.
Detective Kelly: I read Jesse's case files from both Reno and Sherwood CPS. It says that, while under your care, Jesse was subjected to beatings, extreme neglect and molestation.
Tara: That's bullshit!
Detective Kelly: Calm down, Ms. Smith, I'm only trying to figure out why Jesse did this.
Tara: It was his half-sister. That's why he did this.
Detective Kelly: What do you mean?
Tara: That little girl drove Jesse crazy. He killed her friend and her cat for something to do. He despised her.
Detective Kelly: Do you know why?
Tara: Nope. She was probably the cutest kid I ever saw and was really sweet too.
Detective Kelly: Okay, thank you Ms. Smith. That's all I need for now.
