Chapter 4

What. The. Hell?

The last guy I fought, which so happened to be a total gorgeous but short-tempered guy, was my English teacher? I should have known, seeing as according to Morgan and her friends, he was always angry and red-faced. But right now looking at him, his face was no longer red when I first stepped into the classroom. His eyes were wide but then he composed himself, and so did I. He looked slightly tanned, now that his face wasn't red, and truth be told, he was much hotter this way.

The students were quiet, looking at us curiously, but then Matt snapped, ''What are you guys looking at?!'' They quickly looked away and continued chatting while waiting for the rest of the students to come. I went to Matt and though he knew who I was already, I introduced myself.

''Hey, sir. Umm...I'm the new student, Danielle Brooks...''

He looked a bit taken aback by this, obviously not expecting me to introduce myself although he already knew me, but understand crossed his face before he nodded once. ''I'm...Mr Roberts. You can uhh...take a seat first...umm...yeah...'' he stammered. I raised an eyebrow, but nodded nonetheless.

The only seat available was right in front of the teacher's desk and next to Alex. Great, not only am I stuck with him for a period, but I have to sit next to him. He smirked at me as I took a seat next to him. ''I knew you wouldn't be able to resist-''

''Enough, Mr Greyson! Class is starting!'' Matt, well now Mr Roberts, shouted angrily. Oh, angry Matt is back. Mr Roberts. It's Mr Roberts. Not Matt. I sighed, guess this needed some getting used to. ''Is there a problem, Ms Brooks?'' he hissed.

''Chill out, sir.'' Woah, déjà vu much? ''I just sighed. No harm done there, has it? Well, what are you waiting for? Go start your lesson, chop chop,'' I said coolly, as I crossed my arms and leaned back on my seat. I heard some gasps and 'Oh, she's dead' coming from the students around me.

Ma- Mr Roberts' eye twitched before his face turned red. ''You do NOT talk back to a teacher, in case you didn't know! Detention after school for the rest of this week starting from today!'' he growled. I think I just realised his name must be called Matt because he's always mad. I chuckled mentally before his words fully registered in my mind and I jumped out of my seat.

''What?! Come on! It's my first damn day here and you're giving me a freaking detention for a week?!'' I mean, which teacher gives the new student a detention just for talking back a bit?

Mr Roberts slammed his fists on my desk, but I didn't flinch one bit. The students had gone silent, everyone afraid of how this situation was going to unfold. I really didn't blame them though. He looked like he was going to explode. ''Just...just shut up, and sit down, will you?!'' he hissed through clenched teeth.

I sighed internally. I guess a week of detention was enough, a month would have been way worse. I just did as he said, and with that, he started.

''Well, class, if you hadn't notice, you have a new student here. I'm not going to waste any time doing that stupid intros so I'm just going to continue my lesson.''

I realised he was taking slow, deep, breaths, trying to keep calm. That really made me wonder why he was so angry all the time?

Probably a woman in disguise having her time of the month. What other reason is there?

I then sighed in relief, silently thanking god he was too angry to make me introduce myself in front of the class. I really hated introductions, especially since I felt awkward talking in front of the class, thanks to my parents. Note the sarcasm. Speaking of my parents, I was so glad that I didn't had to live with them anymore. They had already made my few years of life hell. It was such a miracle that my birthday was today.
