A/N: So sorry. I was informed that this chapter couldn't be read and looked into the matter. I found out it wasn't published even though I had. Obviously something went wrong, so I had re-uploaded the chapter. So thank you to TiaJaydeConnors for telling me!
Chapter 20
Matt's POV
''What the hell are you doing here?!'' I bellowed.
Stunned, Mrs Owen scrambled away, leaving me and my mother.
''I know I'm the last person you'd want to see, but...I- I need to talk to you,'' my mother pleaded.
''You'd think I would want to talk to you?'' I scoffed. ''Forget it, you're just wasting my time.'' I turned to walk away before I could lose my temper. Not that I wasn't angry, because I was. It's just that if I get anymore angrier, I would grab someone and beat the crap out of them.
''Wait!'' my mother called from behind, running to catch up with me.
When I felt a hand on my shoulder, I spun around and raised my hand.
She flinched and took a step back, fear etched across her face. ''Y- you aren't going t- to hit me are you?'' she stammered. ''You're not going to be like your father, right?''
At this I dropped my hands, but anger was still pulsing through my veins. ''What do you mean my father? I'm nothing like him!'' I was nothing like that bastard called my father!
''You were going to hit me!'' she suddenly spoke up. ''Just like how your father used to beat me up!''
My eyes widened. Before I could say anything, the bell rang, and students piled out from the classrooms. We couldn't go on with this argument with the students here.
Grabbing my mother by the upper arm, I dragged her out and towards my car. If we were going to continue with this, we were doing it in my house. But first I had to pick Danielle up.
As I reached my car and unlocked it, I opened the back seat door and ordered her to go in. I went around the car and got to the driver's seat.
''Where are you taking me?'' my mother asked, trying to be brave when all there was was fear. ''You're just like you father...'' she breathed in fear. ''Get me out of here this instant!''
I continued driving towards Danielle's house as I processed her words in. What did she think I was trying to do to her? Rape her? I snorted mentally when it clicked. My father used to sleep around, and if he didn't get what he wanted, he would resort to rape. Did my mother really thought that low of me?
Well of course, she'd thought I followed my father's footsteps since she left me with him. But it was her own fault. Why did she leave me? Even if she had to leave, why couldn't she at least bring me along?
I glared at her through the rear view mirror. ''Don't you jump to conclusions! I'm nothing like my father and never will be like my father! I have a girlfriend and would never rape anyone! Do you really think that low of me?!''
That shut her up. I didn't know why I had told her I had a girlfriend, but I guess it'll help her stop thinking I'd rape her. The last thought made me feel disgusted. Why would I even want to do that to someone who's blood related?
''You...have a girlfriend?'' she asked hesitantly, looking genuinely interested.
Just thinking of Danielle made me calm down in an instant. The way her long hair flowed in waves down her back, the sparkle in her beautiful forest green eyes when she calls me 'cute', and the anger and sadness in them for me when I told her about my past, her laughs that were music to my ears-- that made a small smile slip onto my face despite the situation we were in.
