Chapter 6

''So you went on a date?''

''It wasn't a date!''

''Oh come on, it was so a date!''

''It wasn't!''

''It so was! Think about it. Dinner. In a restaurant. Just the both of you. He paid for the food. You get to know each other. Yup, it was so a date.''

That shut me up. Holy shit, he was right. I put both my hands on Mike's shoulders and shook it fiercely. ''Oh my god, Mike, I fvcking went on a date with my teacher! Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god— wait. We went on a date as just friends. Yeah, friends. Ha, just normal friends...'' I babbled.

Eventually Mike couldn't stand it and placed a hand on my mouth, muffling my next words.

When Mr Roberts and I had arrived at the warehouse, Mike was pacing the whole place with his phone to his ear. I grimaced, not wanting to think how many missed calls I would have. When I went to apologize, he had slapped me upside the head, making Mr Roberts snort with laughter a few feet away and walked to a nearby bench to sit.

So right now, he was still sitting on the bench finding our whole exchange entertaining to watch, though he probably— and hopefully— couldn't hear a word we were saying. Every now and then I would take a quick glance at him, and felt my face heat up when I realise he was looking at me directly too. Mike seemed to notice this.

''Awwwwwww,'' he stretched out the word, ''Is my little Danny having a crush on her teacher? That's cute.'' He cooed and pinched my cheek, to which I winced as he pinched the spot where I had gotten punched the night before. By none other than Mr Roberts.

I had also told him that Matt was my teacher, to which he had responded by guffawing loudly.

''Oops, sorry.'' He patted my cheek and I scowled at him before punching his shoulder - a little too harshly. ''Ow, what the fvck, bitch?! That hurts!''

I gave him a devious smile to which he responded, ''Oh, it's on. This time, if you win, the winnings double for this whole week. For every fight that you win. And...if I win, you'd have to wash the platform for a month.'' It was his turn to smile smugly, and I hit him upside the head, to which he winced.

''You know, for a weak person like you, you sure are confident you'd win me.'' I raised an eyebrow.

Actually, Mike had used his own money to pay the winnings. He was that rich. Once, he had offered me a place to stay since I got kicked out, but I had turned down his offer as I didn't want to be dependent on anyone.

Aside from hosting this fight, he was working in his father's business, which I have no idea what it was. He worked every now and then, so he could host the fight and work in his father's business at the same time. I didn't think his father knew about his own son hosting an illegal fight, though.

Back to the present, he puffed out his chest and straightened his shoulders. ''What if all this was just an act? Maybe I am str— oof!'' he doubled over clutching his stomach as I kneed him there.

I sighed, patting him on the head. ''Looks like I won, Mikey,'' I chuckled and shook my head.

Mike was never one to fight. He just hosted this fighting ring because he loved watching live fighting with a passion. And because he had too much money.

I turned to Mr Roberts just in time to see him frowning to himself, deep in thought. He was muttering something, but I couldn't hear what he was saying due to the distance between us.
