My phone rang right as I got off from my shift at the hospital. It was Jimmy. He's been calling me here a lot lately. "Hey Jimmy. What's up?" I said casually into my phone as I got into my car to go home to Matt. "Hey Drew. Can you talk? I have something I want to run by you." Jimmy sounded excited, maybe nervous.
"Sure I just got off from my shift, I'm driving home now. What's up? You sound weird tonight." I said as I put the car and drive and took off. "Well, if you're driving maybe I shouldn't tell you. You have a habit of flipping out on me." Jimmy tried to keep from laughing as he said that. "Hey, eff off, buddy! In my defense, my best friend doesn't usually run off to New York for a week and come back with an ultra famous boyfriend. She usually dates idiots. So, cut me some slack."
"So you don't think I'm idiot? That's good to know!" Jimmy said happily into the phone. I could hear his car start. "Hang on, I'm gonna put you on speaker phone so I can figure out this sync system in this truck. I still haven't gotten the hang of it." I heard Jimmy's voice get farther away followed by a clutter of noise. "Plug the fuck in, motherfucker!" I heard him mutter under his breath. I was laughing uncontrollably by the time he figured it out. "Can you hear me? Why are you laughing?" he said when he figured out the sync finally.
"Yes, I can hear you. But, to answer your question. You're still an idiot. Just a different kind of idiot. I can handle a loveable idiot" I was trying to control my laughter. "Well, thank you, Drew. I love you too." Jimmy sounded upset. "Hey, you know I love you Jimmy. I think you two are perfect for each other. I was just picking on you. How's my girl doing anyways?" I asked as I pulled into the city limits.
"She's good! The baby is doing great! We actually found out the sex today. Did Breckyn tell you?" he asked all excited again. I smiled. "Well she sent me a text message but I wasn't able to see it until I got off work. Thomas Jacob Fallon. That's a cute name. I did see it on the tv in the nurses station though! That was cute, with little Winnie and everything. Breckyn looked gorgeous too. The whole nurses station flipped out when we saw her!"
"Was it cute? Didn't Winnie do a good job? Did you like it or was it lame? Gosh, I hope it was a cute as I wanted it to be. I totally sprung that on Breckyn too. I wanted it to be a surprise." He was talking a mile a minute. "Jimmy, slow down. It was great. I'm surprised Breckyn doesn't have your head on a stick though for not telling her. She's not one to want to be in the spotlight, but it looks to be suiting her well. She looked fantastic."
"Oh, she'll probably have my head on a stick when I get home, I'm sure. Speaking of which, I'm almost home now. I need to get to the reason I called you. I was thinking about bringing Breckyn back home tomorrow and the rest of the weekend so she can see you guys and you guys can see the sonogram and stuff. Do you think you could get Jake, John, and Karen to clear their schedule for Sunday? I need to talk to them. And you, actually. I need some help. Do you think you can do that for me?" He said hurriedly.
"I can try, Jim. Why whats up? What is so important that you have to do this right now?" I said as I pulled onto my road. I heard Jimmy turn off his engine and grab the phone and put it up to his ear. "You there? I just got home." I could hear the car door beeping before he took his keys out. "Yeah, I'm here. What are you planning on doing, Fallon?" I said suspiciously. He laughed. "Why do you and Breck always call me Fallon when you think I'm up to no good." He said. "Because you usually are up to no good, that's just what we've always done to get the truth out of someone."
"Well, I guess I am up to no good right now. But you are going to have to wait to see what I have planned. I just need to know that I can bring her home this weekend. Is that possible?"
"I'll talk to Jake and see what they have planned but I'm sure they would love to see her. I'm off work tomorrow. Do you need me to come pick you guys up?" I asked as I pulled into my driveway. I heard him sigh and mumble to himself. "Relax, go get Breckyn ready for tomorrow and I'll see you then."
