This is dedicated to my friends Emma and Freddy :D You guys are so sweet.

Also FYI I'm typing this on my iPod so please bare with me.

Matthew's POV

I don't know why I did it. I just hated being so open like that. Jamie just had this way of prying open my locked doors without my wanting it to happen. And I guess that made me feel hopeless and weak. By hooking up with that blonde, I felt more in control.

I just need to get over Jamie. It'll get me nowhere just thinking about her and how she would never like me. I don't even like her like that so I guess it's all good and crap.

It was Tuesday, four days since our almost kiss. One day since she walked on me and the girl. Twenty four hours since I've last seen her. And five minutes until I see her. This day is going to be long.

I heard the door jingle open and Jamie clamber inside. We looked at each other in awkward silence but she turned away quickly. She looked horrible. And not in the 'her hair is crap.' No, she had dark bags under her eyes, her usual green eyes dull, and her vibrant skin pale.

"Jamie are you okay?" I ask, hesitant since it looks as though she wants to rip my head off.

"Don't. Freaking. Talk. To. Me." She spat out and pushed past me to get to the books. I guess I deserved that.

Hours went by with us not talking, the silence settling on us like a wet blanket.

"Jamie, I do hope we can still be friends." She opened her mouth but I silenced her. "We were just friends before. So dating shouldn't affect us."

She gave me a tight smile and nodded.

"Okay. I'm fine with that. I need to go now. Bye." She scrambles out of the store, fast walking out of my view. I sigh and close up. I drive home, dreading at what my father is going to yell at me again.

I get home but the lights are all off, the silence deafening. I guess my parents went to a job trip. Surprise, surprise.

I decide to just go to my room and sleep.

Jamie's POV

"Can I have that ice cream now?" I ask the ice-cream-hater over the phone.

"Sure thing! Meet me at Cold Stone in ten?" He answers back. I agree then we hang up.

Matthew said that we should date. And maybe this guy is my get away. I get dressed in my regular clothes, zip up my gladiator sandals, and take my moms car to Cold Stone, since it was too far to walk to.

I get there and find him standing outside.

"Hey!" He waves at me, smiling. I smile back and walk over to him. "Lets go get our ice cream." Walking inside, I take a sniff of the sweet smell of fatty, creamy ice cream.

"I'll get a love it with coffee ice cream and snickers." I tell the guy.

"I'll have the same." ICH says. (ice-cream-hater.)

"I never did find out your name." I tell him.

"Lance. And you are?"

"Jamie." We get our cups of delicious cream and sit outside in the warm night air.

"Sorry about the other day. I should've gotten you a new tub." I just smile at him. "Do you want to talk about it?" He asks me quietly and I look up.

"What?"

"You were troubled yesterday. What happened?"

Oh that.

"Nothing. Just... friend... problems." He gave me a pointed look.

"Bull." I just shrug.

"I'm fine now. I'm over him."

"Him?" I nod. "Well I guess that's good. We should do this more often." He smiles at me and we throw away our trash.

"I would like that." I blush slightly but look down to cover my face.

"I'll let you get home." I simply nod as he leads me to my car. "Goodnight Jamie." He says to me in that melting worthy voice.

"Goodnight, Lance." He closes my door softly and I drive away, a grin on my face. It's good that I'm getting over Matthew. Not that I was even into him.

"Why are you so happy?" Matthew asks me from behind.

"No reason. I'm just happy." I grin, putting the books away on the shelf. I feel him looking at my back so I spin around with a frown. "Can I not be happy?" He just shrugs then turns away.

"I know it's about a guy. It's obvious."

"Okay fine. I met a guy and we went to Cold Stone last night."

"Is he nice?"

"He is."

"Does he treat you right?"

"Perfect gentleman."

"What's his name?"

"What is this? 21-Questions-About-The-Guy-I-Like?" I cross my arms.

"Just asking. Isn't that what friends do? Question them about the guy, or girl, they like?"

"I guess yeah. Well do you have anyone that you fancy?" I ask as I lean on the librarian desk.

"No. I don't like anyone." My heart drops a little but I ignore it.

"Are you sure? Not anyone?"

"No." He turns around at that time, going to the back room.

"Temper, temper." I mumble. I go behind a desk and hear a jingle.

"Welcome to Re- Lance? What are you doing here?"I ask with a smile. "Wait how did you know I worked here?"

I saw him blush, his cheeks turning a cute pink. "Well I saw some books in your car that had the store logo. So I thought it was worth a shot."

"I'm glad you took that shot." I grin and go back to my work. "So what brings you here?" I ask again.

"I just wanted to see y-" I heard a door slam and Matthew came racing forward.

"What the hell are you doing here?!" He yelled at Lance.

"Matthew what the hell are you doing?" I push Matthew away from Lance with an angry glare.

"I told you to stay away." He snarled. "You don't belong here." With that said, he pushes past both of us and storms out the front door.

"Do you know him?" I ask Lance.

"That's Matthew Walker, my best friend."
