At the end of a river

Sonic's POV

I watched through the thick branches and leaves. Rouge and Tails has passed by about three times now. I was guessing that they would come back. I adjusted myself so they can't see me through the small openings between the branches.

I just sat there with a pounding head and a bleeding arm. My legs were getting numb by the second. I didn't feel well at all... But I couldn't go back even if I wanted to. I couldn't even run back as well as walk.

Everyone will think I'm a liar and never trust me with anyone again. I've held this secret for years now and after all of this... They'll never listen to anything I say.

I curled up tighter hugged my knees to my chest the best I could. I nuzzled my forehead into my knees and let tears roll out of my eyes. No sun was shining on me and everything was getting dark.

"Sonic where are you!?!" I heard Knuckles call and my ears shot up.

I uncurled and sat down with my legs extended. I used my hands to support my back. I started to look around for the red echidna not knowing where the voice came from. I couldn't see him but I knew he was there.

"Faker?!?" Shadow's voice echoed through the woods.

I could hear their footsteps getting closer and closer towards my hiding spot. I could hear Shadow's rocket shoes sliding against the ground and the rockets turning on and off. I heard a branch snap on the other side of the tree I was leaning against.

I stumbled away from the tree and saw Knuckles peeking out from behind it. His eyes went wide when he saw me and how banged up I was. He started stepping closer and each step he took I pushed myself back. He knew I was afraid and could hear me whimpering.

Nearby the tree I was lying against was near a small pond. There were lily pads floating in the water and Duckgrass everywhere. If I backed up any further I would slip through the mud and fall in.

I was able to use a tree nearby to help me up. My legs were aching but this was the only way to make it back to the cabin. Changing into my other form might not heal me... But it'll be easier to move.

"Sonic come on... We'll bring you back to the campsite so we can patch you up," Knuckles said as he reached for me.

I didn't say a word and held my arm in pain as I walked back. I looked over at the pond and then back at Knuckles. There was rustling in the bushed and Shadow emerged from the forest. They both knew what I was going to do to get away.

"Sonic! You can't swim! Don't do it!" Knuckles yelled at me running at me to try and stop me.

I ran over to the pond trying to ignore the pain and dove in. Shadow and Knuckles ran after me but stayed in the shallow water so the water was up to there waists. I was wading in the deeper part of the pond and started to back up into the even deeper water.

My legs faded away to reveal a fishtail. The top half of my tail was azure blue like my fur. But it faded into a crimson red when it got to the bottom. There is a white ring around the bottom of my tail that looked like the buckle on my famous red a white shoes.

Shadow and Knuckle's eyes went wide as I flicked my tail up in the air and splashed them. Water got into there eyes and the stumbled back. I turned around to dive down into the water but something grabbed my arm. I didn't turn around but I could already tell who it was.

There was heavy breathing behind me. A gloved hand wouldn't let go of my arm. They held me tightly and something started to glow a yellow light.

"Let me go Shadow," I said still looking away.
