Summer Camp

Chapter Twenty-Five

Five more days of camp left. 

That's the first sentence that hit me when I woke up this morning.

As soon as Kayleigh woke up, she sighed and said, "Only five days left."

I'm going to make a guess and say that that's the first thing that everyone is going to be thinking about today.

I got in the shower and took a quick one. Being here at camp, I'm a pro at taking quick showers now. I'm not sure if that's a valuable skill or not, but I'm pretty proud of myself.

Everyone else wakes up and we go eat breakfast in silence.

It's activity time and Kayleigh says, "I'm tired of being in here reading magazines. I'm going for a run. Who wants to come with me?"

Ella and Haley both immediately say no and that they'd rather just stay here. Lexie and I go along with Kayleigh.

We don't really talk, we just run. I mostly follow Kayleigh and Lexie follows me. We run for about ten minutes in silence. Sure, just running around camp with two other girls without even saying a word to each other might not sound like the funnest thing in the world, but it's better than sitting in a cabin being bored like we've done lately.

We run past the gazebo behind the Main Hall and I stop. Kayleigh and Lexie slow down then stop, turning around to watch me.

Lexie asks, "Grace, are you okay?"

"Yeah, I'm fine. I'll catch up with you guys later, okay?" I say, staring at the gazebo.

Kayleigh says, "Yeah.. okay." They take off running again.

I slowly walk up to the gazebo and stand in the middle, looking around. I walk to the back of the gazebo and sit down, leaning on the sides.

I start thinking of everything that's happened this summer.

Brady liked me right from the start and I liked him but I was afraid of Addie so I stopped liking him and started liking Alex whom also liked me. I dated Alex and avoided Brady for a while after he told me he liked me. Mandee was a bitch. I had a lot of problems with her.

Riley came along. He dated Kayleigh. Lexie dated Danny. Riley helped me make up with Brady and Brady and I were friends again. Alex made me choose between Brady and Riley and him. I chose my friends and we broke up.

I started liking Brady. Riley kissed me. Brady kissed me. Brady and I started dating. Addie was a bitch. I had a lot of problems with her. Brady and I continued dating, I continued avoiding Alex.

My father died. I had my father's funeral. I became depressed. Riley and Brady got me out of my depression. Kayleigh and I had fight. Kayleigh and I forgave each other.

Lexie and Danny broke up. Lexie liked Alex. Alex didn't like Lexie. I yelled at Alex. Alex liked Lexie. Lexie didn't like Alex. Alex still in love with me. I got Addie and Jason together. Kayleigh broke up with Riley. Riley said he had always liked me.

Brady and I had our break. I became friends with Addie, Alex, and Mandee. Now, not friends with Mandee.

God damn.

How did my summer become so dramatic?

I have three guys in love with me. I had fights with friends and had to deal with crazy bitches.

Oh, and thrown into all of this crazy drama, my own father passed away. I still don't want to even think about what it's going to be like when I go home and my dad isn't there. How has my mom been holding up, being in my big yellow home all alone?
