It was a typical day for me, I had just come back from my mates house party, staggering along, pavement to pavement in the complete darkness - only the streetlights illuminating spotlights on the street where I aimed to walk.
My parents were going to fucking kill me."Oh fucking hell!" I gasped, tripping over my own feet, feeling myself knock hard into something.
"Hey love, you alright?" I heard a voice. I looked up to see a boy, looking around my age. Long brown shaggy hair that cut around his face, it stopped just below his ears. His hands supported me as I caught my balance on one of the streetlights in reaching distance.
"I'm..I'm fine." I stuttered, feeling the urge to throw up. It all came out at once, falling to the ground, covering my shoes.
"Uh, love. Do you need any help?" He asked. I stood up straight, wiping my mouth as I mumbled to myself, sliding off my black vans that were covered in my puke.
"No, I'm-" I began before turning around to see him in the light. He had piercing green eyes. Fucking hell. He was something.
"What's your name?" He asked, his arm gesturing towards me, stabilising me in case my drunken ass fell over again.
"Lisa."
"Lisa? I'm Van. Nice to meet you." He chuckled, watching me as I pressed myself against a wall to the side of me and slid down, slumping to sit down.
"Lisa, are you?..do you want me to call somebody for you?" Van asked, I could hear the worry in his voice as he crouched next to me, holding my shoulder."No!..no..not my parents." I spluttered.
"Ok. What about your mates? Aren't they worried?" He tried his best, bless him. My drunken self was so out of it.
"Van! We're going to be late!" I heard another voice call, footsteps approaching. "Are you ok mate?"
"I'm fine. Lisa needs some help." Van explained.
"Lisa?..Oh, right."
"Larry, tell the boys I'll be there in a min." I heard Van frustratedly speak, getting a bit flustered.
"They're coming over now." I'm guessing 'Larry' said.
"Fuck sake. Mate, we don't need a crowd. Just..Lisa, love." I felt Van gently shake my shoulder as he tried to get my attention.
"Fucking hell, who've you hit on this time Van?" I heard another voice laugh.
"Shut up Ben, fucking hell. Someone gonna help me or what?"
"Alright, keep your knickers on." I heard someone else approach me, my eyes slowly opened. The night was all blurry.
"Excuse me..uh..""Lisa." Van repeated my name.
"Excuse me Lisa, do you have someone we could call for you?" The other voice said.
"Mm..no." I sluggishly said, not wanting my mates to see me like this.
"Well that's it then. She obviously doesn't want to tell us." The other voice said, now standing up.
"What are we gonna do?" I think Larry said, I could just about understand his voice.
"Well we can't leave her here can we?" Another voice spoke.
"What about taking her to the gig?"
"Ben, are you mad as well?" The other voice spoke.
"Well we can't leave her, and she doesn't want to go home..or ring anyone." I'm assuming 'Ben' was speaking.
I lifted my head and held to the street light post to pull myself up, now opening my eyes, rubbing them, now seeing a bit more clearly."Hey, love. Are you ok? Are you sure you don't want us to ring anyone for you?" I now distinguished between Van's and Larry's voice.
"No." I coughed, clearing my throat, "I'll just go find somewhere to stay for the night." I found my feet again and took out my phone.
"Lisa. Do you, uh, wanna come with us? We've got a gig, then we're goin' home afterwards? We can try sober you up?" Van asked me.
Usually I wouldn't say yes to strangers that I had just met on the street in my hometown, but considering that my parents would throw a fit if they knew that I was stumbling home drunk at 17, so I say going with strangers would be my best option. It's better than sleeping on the streets.
"Yeah..ok." I sluggishly nodded and I felt multiple arms hold my balance as they lead me in the opposite direction to where I was heading. We stopped at a vehicle.
"Right, big step now. You ready?" Van guided my foot to the step and hands steadied me into the vehicle. It was spacious as to what I was feeling.
"You're sat next to Bob and Ben. They'll make sure you don't fall, alright?" Van explained, before I heard a loud sliding door shut. The ignition started and off I went.
"Ben.." I laughed drunkenly to myself, finding Ben's name amusing. "Has it always been Ben?" I asked, probably making no sense.
"It's actually uh, Benji."
"Benji? Even better!" I laughed. The Van was dark, only the light coming through the front of the vehicle lit up the inside.
"Here. Drink this." The voice on the opposite side of me said, handing me a cold bottle of water.
"You're Bob? Hi! I'm Lisa!" I laughed again, finding myself amusing.
"Nice to meet you Lisa. Now drink your water." He chuckled, helping me lift the bottle to my mouth.
It felt like we were in the vehicle for ages, I swear they were just going to kidnap me. I felt much better after they fed me water for most of the trip. My eyes didn't keep closing and I didn't keeping going out of consciousness. My head just felt a bit fuzzy. The vehicle soon came to a halt and I now realised I was in a van. A van? The door slid open to reveal a pub.
"A pub?" I asked, watching them all stand up and exit the van. Bob held out his hand and guided me off the vehicle.
"It's where we're playing in..fifteen minutes." Bob examined the time on his phone.
"That's the time? Fucking hell." A guy who looked a bit older than the others.
"Billy, it'll be fiiine." Van grinned to Larry, who was smaller than Van in height. He was cute.
"Right whatever, not my fault if we get kicked off this slot then." He huffed and went around to the back of the van to get out their equipment.
"That's Billy, Lisa." Van rolled his eyes. "How you feelin' now?"
"Better. How long was we in the-?" I pointed towards the van behind us.
"About two an half hours. Why?"
"Shit." I mumbled. "That long?"
Van laughed as we all walked in. Bob still making sure that I was stable, his hand hooked around my arm. Bless him, he was too kind. I had sobered up quite a bit since I was drinking straight vodka. I actually can't remember why I left my mates house in the first place?
Oh well, at least I know these lads ain't going to kidnap me.
