Whilst I was walking home, I felt my phone vibrate several times in my jacket. I saw that it was Van calling and I ignored it, I wasn't in the mood to talk to him, not after what had just happened. The sea breeze from the seafront has picked up, making the wind become stronger and to make things worse, it began to rain - and I had no idea where I was going, it was kind of difficult, even though I have lived here for the most of my life. Thank god I left, I felt that everybody was staring at me as if they knew what me and Van had done, but I'm guessing after what has just happened, they'd all know by now.
My phone vibrated in my pocket and it was Van. I gave in and answered, taking a halt under a street light to get light to my phone so I could see if anything was coming.
"Hello?" I answered, hearing Van slightly out of breath.
"Where are you?" He asked seeming like he was trying to look for me. I felt the rain against my jacket pick up and get heavier.
"I'm walking home. Why?" I really couldn't be arsed with his bullshit at the moment.
"Just tell me where you are!" He sounded frustrated and the I saw a figure approach me. I saw it was Van and I ended the call. He stopped under the street light, face to face with me. I saw that Alfie had taken quite a hit to Van, he had blood smeared all over his face. It was like something out of a movie. He had patches of blood under his nose and eyebrow where it had dried. But from all of this, he still ended up with a spliff in his gob.
"You alright?" He asked, shoving his phone back into his leather jacket pocket, blowing out the smoke from his drag.
"Do I look alright?" I snapped back with a sigh, wrapping my arms around my body.
"Well no. I'm not alright either." He shrugged, not really knowing what to say.
"Obviously not Van." I sighed, looking down to the floor, watching the rain bounce from the pavement.
"I'm not the one who started the fight back in there. He's the one who started yelling at me saying that I took you off him!" His voice went a little higher than usual as he tried to defend himself, taking another drag of his joint.
"Right? And?" I replied, not that amused at his excuses.
"Is that all you're going to say?" He scoffed.
"What else do you want me to say Van? Oh come back to my place and we'll have a shag? No. That was once. You can't just go around telling everybody that we fucked, not even the boys." He began to press my buttons. The rain had already drenched us both and I was getting ready to walk away from his bullshit.
"Lisa. I actually like you, ok? How else am I supposed to tell you?" Van said trying to not shout, I could hear the frustration in his voice.
"You like me? Oh that's hard to believe when I get no calls or texts from you? I bet you just went back in there and fucked Abby to say sorry!" I began to raise my voice and I saw him scoff, looking away from my eyes whilst he took a drag.
"You did, didn't you?" I gasped and I watched as his eyes fell to the floor whilst he put out his joint. "You're unbelievable Van." I shook my head and began to walk away.
"No, Lisa, look!" I took my hand, gently pulling me back so I'd turn around. "It's not like that!"
"How is it then? Because I don't see how it could be any different?" I tried to not scream in his face as he was really testing my patience. I rolled my eyes as he hesitated and I turned to walk away from him, leaving him just stood there. I didn't even want to look back. I left him there, in the pouring rain.
