Raven's POV
It had been about a week or so since the skybox had been locked up from the public. The ark leaders explained a virus had spread through the skybox and therefore all prisoners had to be kept away from the public. They couldn't risk the citizens getting sick. Most of the public believed them, but I didn't. With the rumors of a dropship being launched, I had to find out what happened.
If the rumors were true, where were they sent? And if they weren't true then were they truly sick or just killed off? I knew I had to find out what happened, it was hard enough without Lizzie but now that Finn was arrested just around a year before..I couldn't handle it. I needed to know they were at least ok.
I was exploring more than I should be. Venturing inside vents to eavesdrop on the ark leaders conversations. But so far it hadn't helped, they were pretty quiet about it and I had no intel. Not to mention I came home everyday to the grumpiest man ever. He constantly complains and yells at me whenever I made a simple noise.
I spent most of my time out of the house from all his stress. I still don't see how I've managed all this time without Finn or Lizzie. Whenever I didn't have Finn I had Lizzie. Even if she didn't know, she helped me so much. When I comforted her over and over, it always seemed to help her. But what she didn't know was just having her there with me, seeing her ok was all that kept me going. She ment the world to me, I loved Finn but she had a bigger spot in my heart.
I was brought back into reality as I made my way down the ark hallway. If sneaking around wasn't working then I still had another option to find out what happened. I found myself at the crowd of rioting citizens, the ones who didn't believe in the prisoners being sick.
I pushed my way through the crowd, my tight ponytail swaying behind me. I made a easy path to the front of the crowd, where the leader representive would stand cowarding behind the guards holding us back. The representative would constantly tell us about them being sick. Blah blah blah. All lies.
"Are you guys going to tell us the truth or wait for us to find out what you're hiding behind all these lies?" I spat at the representative with narrowed eyes.
The black haired lady, was slim and seemed pretty young but much older than me, she replied much calmer "I'm sorry m'am you'll see them after the illness clears up."
The raven haired lady turned and turned to leave, in desperation I pushed against the guards "wait- please I just want to know if my sister is ok..she's only twelve."
The lady turned to look at me with a surprisingly gentle gaze "I'm sorry m'am..there's nothing I can do to help" she told me before turning and leaving.
Instead of just standing there, I made a quick decision. I gave out a fake sigh before turning away from the large crowd and guards. I kept my gaze at the floor as I continued away. After reaching the end of the hall, a few feet away, I lifted my head up glancing around at my surroundings. With no one in sight it seemed easy to pull this off.
I was quick to press my hands against the wall, lifting the ventilation cover. I was quick to crawl into the tight space before pulling the vent over to seal it, covering my tracks. The walls were plain silver, the metal used for everything on the ark. It was tight for a fully grown woman but I was small enough to fit even if it was a struggle. I managed to face forward, crawling forward until reaching a spot where it led to two separate paths.
I already knew the left path led to the room where the ark leaders discussed, which wasn't what I wanted right now. I needed to find a way to reach the ark headquarters, where the control panel was. They had files there, where I could find out how Lizzie and Finn were doing. Or better yet I could find the raven haired girl and interrogate her, I hoped she had some kindness in her heart to help me. It seemed like it earlier.
I decided to try right for once, climbing through the tight space in a awkward crouch. I began hearing some indistinct chatter as I continued down the vent. A dim light flowed up into the vent as I cautiously crept forward.
"You know there gonna find out, what about the girl..she was just looking for her sister, how could you send a innocent twelve-year-old to earth??"
A shiver went down my spine. Earth? Earth had never been survivable, so why send a child down? Anger filled Raven, there seemed no right to send anyone down. What if Lizzie was already dead!
To my horror the vent made a cracking sound, in a instant I was falling through the now broken vent, hitting the floor with a thud. My knee ached since I landed badly on it, but I ignored it, quickly getting to my feet to see the darked haired girl from earlier and the man I recognized as Sinclair.
"How could you be involved in this?" I spat at Sinclair, he was the father I never had and now look at what he was doing!
"Raven..we've been forced to keep this and the charting a secret." Sinclair explained.
"Charting? What the hell are you charting?!"
"Vitals from their bracelets..anything to tell us how they are" Sinclair explained pointing to the screen.
"Pull up Lizzie's, pull them up now!" I commanded.
Sinclair glanced at the dark haired lady besides him before she nodded. He stepped forward to the controls and began searching through the files. I waited impatiently staring up at the screen. Sinclair suddenly stopped, glancing at me with wide eyes.
"Raven..she's dead"
