octavia's pov .

i pulled the reins on the horse, coming to a stop. i hadn't been very prepared for an obstacles that might get in the way. for example, an old bridge. so old infact that vines were wrapping around the cement, digging themselves deep into the cracks along the bridge. as old as it was, i hadn't been on earth long enough to even know it was here. i doubted the other one-hundred had known about it either. i hoped i wasn't lost. maybe across the bridge i'd be lucky and find the camp but i had no clue where i was.

i tilted my head, trying to look around for an familiar signs, but there were none. well..jasper had to get home so i'd just have to pray camp was on the other side of the bridge, seeing as the other directions was full of grounders, this was our best shot.

"why'd we stop..?" i heard jasper ask in a quiet voice.

"no worries..we're almost home." i lied, rubbing him on the back in reassurance.

"hope so.." he mumbled, then chuckled adding "damn this is sure gonna be one hell of a scar."

i felt a small grin form on my face, then it quickly faded. i was trying to avoid the topic as much as possible, but i missed lizzie. it felt entirely like my fault she was gone and i had to get her back. if anything happened to her..i could never forgive myself. i blinked my eyes rapidly to avoid the small tears forming in my eyes to fall down my face.

"octavia..you ok?" jasper said suddenly, attempting to glance back at me.

"huh?..oh yeah, i'm good" i sighed and whipped the reins to get the horse moving again, "let's hope this bridge will hold."

i felt jasper lean back down against the horse, i wasn't sure if he was able to stay conscious from all the blood loss. he kept waking up at random moments after passing out. it was starting to scare me he wouldn't wake up again.

i kept the horse at a slow pace as it began crossing the old bridge. i anxiously watched the floor as we walked on it, praying it wouldn't give out and we'd be lost in the water beneath it. hoof after hoof the horse continued to the end of the bridge. we were almost off now—

snap!

it sounded like the bridge, and for a moment i was worried we'd fall through. startled, the horse threw itself back on two feet in shock. immediately i fell off and hit the cement bridge. jaspers grip didn't fail him and he somehow he stayed on as the horse fearfully ran into the forest - in the direction we were heading - with jasper glued to its back.

shit! shit! shit! i tried to sit up but the pounding in my head and the ringing in my ears was to strong, i was stuck there, on the floor. my head hurt so much. my back too. everything did. my vision began blurring. everything became unclear. then darkness took over.

lizzie's pov .

i shuddered as the blade was pressed against my throat, but i forced myself to stay calm and act tough, even if i was terrified.

"elizabeth ruth." i responded quietly.

"i heard you and your friends killed one of my men?" the woman asked.

"we defended ourselves, your people attacked first." i retorted.

"you were in our territory." she snapped.

"and how were we suppose to know that, huh?"

"you can see who has a sword at whose throat, can you not?" she said, narrowing her eyes.

"yeah, atleast i'm not scared enough to threaten a girl half my age."

"scared? you dare accuse me of being afraid?" she said as she got closer to me, causing me to back away so her blade wouldn't cut through my neck.
