Part 1- Nostalgia

Lindsay’s POV

 

Day 16- Monday

   I was falling, falling, falling to my death. This was the end…I knew it.

     Riley shouted, "LINDSAY!"

     My life flashed before my eyes...

     Me as a baby playing with my older sister, Melodie.

     Making my first friend in kindergarten, Shamela Janes

     My first speech in front of the school.

     My very last birthday party when I was twelve.

     My first date when I was fourteen.

     The apocalyptic event about two weeks ago.

     When I found Riley, then Toby.

     The minute before I was falling.

     I wanted to return to my normal life, not my life now!

     Then I felt it...

     A very large, soft bush. I landed in the middle of it. I got up fine until I felt the pain; the agonizing pain in my hand from where the figure stabbed me. It was gushing blood and there was a red line of blood all the way down the tower where my hand rubbed against it.

     I wrapped one of the bush's giant leaves around it and held it there.

     Then I heard gunfire. A bullet whizzed by my head. Then another, and another! Luckily none of them hit me. Next I saw Riley shooting upward as he climbed the ladder. I saw one of Riley 's bullets hit the figure right in the chest.

     Then he climbed the ladder and when he got to the top, Riley shouted to me, "He's gone! There's no one up here!"

     'How could there be no one up there?' I thought to myself, 'I have the scar to prove...' I looked at the wound on my hand, it was gone! The blood from my hand was still on the water tower tho.

     As soon as Riley came down from the top of the tower, I screamed "WHERE THE HELL IS THE GASH IN MY HAND?!?!?! I GOT STABBED WITH A FREAKING KNIFE!!!"

     "Calm down Lindsay!" Riley said calmly but quite loudly, "All that matters is that it's gone and so is the guy that tried to harm us, we're safe now." he hugged me while I rested my head on his shoulder.

     "It's okay." he kept comforting me, "You're alright."

       “This world is fucked up.” I said quietly and Riley let out a small chuckle.

     Then Toby came to me and Riley and joined in on the hug. I ended up smothered between Riley and Toby. I kissed Riley and Toby on the cheek. 

     When I tried to move away, their embraces just tightened on me. "We can survive this world,” said Riley confidently, "we’ll be okay..."
