Part 23- Brotherly Love

Toby’s POV

   Then it came to me, what I had done. "Riley!" I shouted and ran to him. "Riley please say something!" I dropped to my knees beside him.

        He was silent.

       I checked if he was breathing and thank god he was. I began to cry, "Riley?" I whimpered through my tears.

     I didn't get a reply, but he sighed.

       Then I asked him, "You okay?"

     I did get an answer this time, "No. My neck hurts, my foot too, and my wrist might be broken. I can't move it. I definitely won't mess with you anymore!"

     "I’m so so sorry Riley.” I said as I hugged him, being carful not to hurt him. “Can I help you get up?” I offered, tears still in my eyes.

     "Sure." he replied and I held out my hand to help him up. Riley grabbed my hand and I pulled him up onto his feet with my arm around his back supporting him. He almost collapsed until I put his arm around my shoulders for support. We walked back to the camp like that and believe me, it wasn’t easy getting him out of the skatepark bowl. He was limping so it got tiring being his reinforcement brace.

     When we finally were back at the camp, Riley just kept limping past it, causing me to have to support him. "Where are you going Riley?" I asked him.

     "We're going to the river." he replied.

     "Good idea, we'll need water to clean up your cuts."

     Then he spoke again, "Not for that, I want to sleep near the river in case I lose it while you’re asleep...Ugh!"

     Riley almost collapsed again but I caught him just before he hit the ground.

         “No Riley,” I told him, “I’m staying with you.”

         “You sure?” he asked me.

         “Definitely. I love you and I’m not about to leave you when you’re hurt.”

         We did end up sleeping outside but I made a very soft area for him to rest on.

         ‘I love my brother to death no matter what. I know he loves me too and this isn’t the real him. This year has changed us all and I hate it. I just wanna go back to our normal lives. You have no idea how bad.’
