Part 4- Sitting, Thinking

     "Well, maybe you could...um... you could...I've got it!" Toby remarked, "I could ask Lindsay if she likes you and pretend I don't know anything about the 'naked' thing. And if she says she does, I'll ask her how much and try to mention good things about you so maybe she won’t care as much or something…I’m not exactly sure where I was going with all that…but maybe it’ll be stupid enough to work."

     "Thanks Toby man. We can try it. But what if she says she doesn't like me anymore?"

     "She won’t…but if by the tiniest chance she doesn’t, I'll just mention good things about you, she's yours now anyway. Remember what I told you that day you were drunk?"

     I nodded, "Thanks a lot bro." I wrapped my arms around my little brother for a quick hug.

Toby’s POV

     I promised Riley that I would seek out Lindsay and make sure that she still liked him. I found her sitting outside underneath a very old apple tree.

     "Hey Lindsay. What's up?" I said as I sat down next her.

     "Hey Toby, I'm just sitting, thinking."

     "About what?" I asked, even though I knew 'about what'.

     "You don't know about 'the incident'? Cuz if you don't, it's nothing." she answered quickly with air quotes around 'the incident'.

     "I don't know about 'the incident'," I said with air quotes, "but if it's nothing, that's fine, I don’t wanna be nosey.” That was hypocritical because exactly what I came over to talk to her about would be nosey. “So do you still like Riley? I asked because I wasn't sure."

     Lindsay's face twisted into a suspicious look. "Well I do still like him. After that 'incident' I’m a little scared of being around him. I don’t know whether he’s happy about it, sad, mad or what. And I think since his mood changes a lot, I might be beginning to like him less. I really don't know though."
