Toby’s POV
Day 21- Saturday
"Happy Birthday Toby!" Riley whispered when he noticed I was awake. But Lindsay was still asleep.
"Since it’s your birthday," he started, "you can have Lindsay today. Go ahead. Kiss her. She's asleep. When it wakes her up, the first thing she'll she is you kissing her." ‘Why would he say that?’ I know he knows I like her but…that’s not something you’d normally say to someone. Especially your brother!’
“Aren’t you two dating?” I asked.
Riley looked down and shook his head, “I asked her but she didn’t actually answer me.”
"Oh.” I said then asked, “Are you sure you’d be okay with this?" I asked, "You won't hurt me?"
"No, I promise I won't. After all, you ARE my brother, it’s not like you’re some random person."
I rose to my feet, walked over to where Lindsay was sleeping and laid down beside her. I leaned over her and planted a gentle kiss on her lips. I felt so weird about it but Riley didn’t seem to be strangling me yet. She awoke and I felt her kiss me back.
After about 5 seconds, we stopped and she smiled at me. Then she turned her head and saw Riley and her smile instantly disappeared. " Riley, I, uh, was um…" she stuttered.
"It's okay Lindsay," he began, "I said it was okay. I promised him I wouldn't loose my temper. Especially because it's his birthday."
That made Lindsay seem like something that was just being passed around, I hoped she didn’t take it that way.
"Oh yeah, that, uh, distracted me. Happy birthday Toby! Now you're 16!"
I didn't feel 16. I felt like a little boy trapped in a teenager's body. But I kept that to myself.
