Inhumane

Jin passed a critical eye over my leg as I sat on the table. He looked troubled.

'Since I don't know what's wrong with it, I don't want to use the wrong spell, it might make things worse.' He explained. I frowned.

'Does that mean you're leaving it?' I asked.

'For now, yeah. Odds are it's just badly bruised or sprained, so it could get better.' He said. 'Just don't put any weight on it.' He ordered.

'Ok.' I said nodding. 'How's Jimin?' I asked.

'A little battered, but physically fine. What I'm really worried about is the psychological damage.' Jin said worriedly.

'What do you mean?' I asked.

'I think the guard showed him something ...uh, distressing' Jin described.

'Like what?'

'Doesn't matter.' Jin said. 'But we now know that the guards can attack our minds if we get too close.' Jin said. I gasped.

'Did they break into his head?' I asked in shock. Jin nodded angrily.

'It's inhumane.' He muttered. 'And we'll have to lie low for a while now, especially you two.'

'Not like I could go anywhere anyway.' I said gesturing to my leg. Jin smiled.

'I'm gonna go out on a limb and say you're on your last legs right now.' He grinned smugly. I buried my head in my hands.

'That's an all time low Jin, mocking the wounded with puns.'

'You just need to leg go.' He smirked. I looked away.

'Yeah that was really crap.' Yoongi said walking up behind me. 'Jungkook wants a word Y/n.' He said.

'He'll have to come over here then. I can't walk, doctor's orders.' I explained. Yoongi rolled his eyes, and waved for Jungkook to come over. He picked up some sheets of paper he'd been reading through and walked over, reordering them as he went. He scratched his ear, still looking down.

'I need to leave in a few days, I've still got work to do.' He explained. He hesitated for a moment before continuing. 'I think Jimin's seen something. The Night Guard tend to make threats, and that one would've had perfect access to Jimin's mind. The moment I found you guys, Jimin wouldn't meet my eyes. What Jimin saw affects me directly, and I need to know what it was.' He explained urgently.

'I don't know.' I said.

'Please find out.' He urged.

'I'll do what I can, but I don't want to hurt him.' I said. 'But I also don't get your deal.' I said harshly.

'What are you tal-'

'You know what I mean.' I argued. 'You've been evasive since we met, and I still don't know what you do. Both gangs we ran into, and the Night Guard are your enemies, so what are you doing?' I demanded. He looked pretty conflicted.

'I've been trying to get tier three magicians legalised.' He said.

'That doesn't explain why the gangs have become your enemies.' I pointed out.

'No, it doesn't.' He said. I shook my head.

'Fine. Be awkward.' I muttered. He was still avoiding telling the truth.

What did he really want?

And the plot is back on track.
A short but necessary chapter, I've been struggling to get things moving, so the previous couple of chapters were originally just fillers while I tried to develop certain character arcs, and bring about more shippy moments with Jimin, but they've turned out to be pretty critical to the story. Also considering doing a JK spin off.  Not sure if I've suggested that before but let me know what you think.

All my love,
Blue
