Later on, we were all sat together eating stew. Hoseok was caught up in a meeting that he'd refused to enlighten us on, so he'd left us some food to give Jin a break. Jin was on his feet serving himself and Namjoon a little more, whilst Jimin and Tae bartered jokingly over who could have the bit of beef that had fallen onto the table. The current going price was two carrots. I knocked Jungkook's foot, who was siting beside myself and Jimin.
'Go on.' I whispered. He raised his eyebrows. Across the table, Namjoon smothered his laughter as he caught on to what I was suggesting. He nodded his head at Jungkook as he looked up. A small smile crept across his face. He picked up his fork, and before Jimin or Taehyung could react, he speared the meat with his fork, snatching it from right in front of them.
Both their faces fell, and they both began to complain loudly.
'I was about to have that!' Jimin cried out.
'That was worth at least three carrots.' Taehyung complained, while Jungkook chewed proudly, much to the others' chagrin. I tried my best to smother a laugh, until Jimin began to eye me suspiciously, making it harder to keep a straight face. I gave up, and laughed until I was gasping for air.
'Your faces!' I said between spates of laughter.
'You should be on my side!' Jimin said with a look of pure betrayal.
'It was her idea.' Jungkook chipped in. Jimin looked at me in horror over his lost lunch.
'Guilty as charged.' I grinned.
'Will you pay me back?' Jimin asked.
'With what?' I asked. My face turned magenta as he leaned forward over the table, raising an eyebrow at me. He tilted his head, and ran a hand through his silky hair. It felt as though his gaze was burning right into my soul, and I felt the heat of my blush travel further up my cheeks.
Jin slapped the table with a loud laugh, a stark contrast to the discomfort displayed on Jungkook and Taehyung's faces. Namjoon began to laugh, shutting his eyes, as he gripped his cutlery as hard as he could to avoid dropping them while he laughed.
'I think you should pun-' Namjoon was cut off with a cuff round the ear and a "WATCH YOUR MOUTH!" From Jin. But Namjoon continued to laugh whole I buried my head in my arms, to hide my face in my sleeves. Wheezing, He rubbed the back of his head.
'Didn't want to waste an opportunity.' He explained as he caught his breath.
'That's just gross!' Tae argued. He shrugged.
After a minute, my face had returned to its natural hue and I deemed it safe to resurface. As I looked up my face dropped. Jimin had stolen my food.
'You thief!' I accused. He looked back smugly.
'Revenge. He said with a smile. I groaned, and prodded at what I had left with my fork. I looked up, startled as a fork appeared in front of my face. Leaning across Jungkook was a guilty looking Jimin. He dropped a piece of stew on my plate, giving me a little smile.
'How could I betray you, like you did me?' He said sweetly. I rolled my eyes.
'Clearly you're much nicer than I am.' I said, equally saccharine. Jungkook laughed next to me, shaking his head.
'Are your Arguments usually like this?' Tae asked. I shook my head and laughed.
'No, We're usually fighting over how safe our plans are.' Jimin said. I looked down at my plate.
'About that...' I said quietly. Everyone's heads turned to face me. From the corner of my eye I could see Jimin stiffen up. 'I was thinking I could help Jungkook.' I said. Nobody spoke. 'I could help him find out what really happened to Junghyun, and get him out of the Night Guard.' I urged.
