The next day, I was reading a book in Hoseok's library when Tae sprinted into the room, then froze. He looked at me blankly for a moment, before turning around and strolling back out calmly, shutting the door. I stared at the door in confusion. Moments later, Namjoon and Jungkook rushed in, holding their hands behind their back.
'You haven't seen Taehyung have you?' Namjoon asked. I raised an eyebrow at him.
'What's going on?' I asked.
'Nothing. We just can't find him.' Jungkook said.
'He just ran in. Then walked out.' I said. Namjoon muttered something to Jungkook and I shook my head. Everyone was being awkwards today. First Namjoon accidentally blows the fuses when I pop my head through his door, and now everyone's running around.
I decided to ignore them, and continued reading my book. I only made a few pages when I heard an almighty crash from somewhere upstairs. I sighed, and put my book down. Something told me I wasn't going to get much done today. I got up, and made my way out into the hall and towards the staircase when I heard a screech behind me. Jimin stood awkwardly just down the hall.
'You can't go up.' He cried out. I let out an exasperated puff.
'Why not?' I demanded.
'You'll walk in on them!' Jimin exclaimed,
'On who?'
'Taehyung and Jungkook!'
'What are they doing?' I asked puzzled.
'Uhh... you know..' Jimin said awkwardly '...they're upstairs together.' He finished, and I flushed deep red.
'You mean..?' I said quietly. He nodded, looking away. I quickly walked back down the stairs and to where I left my book.
About an hour later, I glanced up as I heard a knock on the door, startling me out of my focus. Jin poked his head through the door, not quite opening it all the way.
'We need you upstairs.' He said, disappearing back behind the door. I got up and walked to the door, but when I opened it, he was already gone. I groaned, and traipsed up the stairs, after hearing Jin's footsteps rush up them. When I got to the top, I looked down the hallway and pushed open the first door. It was empty. I walked up to the second, and it was also empty. I paused as I got to the last door on the left. I pushed it open slowly, but the lights were out. As I opened the door completely I let out a soft gasp.
'Happy late birthday!' They all cheered. I clapped my hands over my mouth. Even Yoongi was sat smiling with them. I blinked clearing my eyes, and I could see the lopsided banners hung up on the wall, and Jin beamed up at me holding a cake proudly. Jimin held his arms out towards me and I walked into them, settling myself into his warm embrace, as I hid the tears spilling from my eyes into his jumper. I hiccuped and felt the thrum of Jimin's laughter through his chest. I sniffed and turned back to face the rest.
'How did you..?' I asked, not trusting myself to say much more.
'A lot of panic.' Tae admitted. 'Jungkook was a lot of help.' He added, nodding in his direction.
'When was my birthday?' I asked embarrassed.
'Yesterday.' Jungkook said.
'You didn't know?' Jungkook asked looking upset. I shook my head, looking at Jin.
'She wasn't keeping track of time when she was little, and I think she didn't really want to think about home and birthday's.' Jin explained for me.
'We'll have to make up for missed birthdays.' Tae said with a grin. I shook my head.
'That'd be weird.'
'You can make up for missing mine then.' He smirked.
'Celebrate them by yourself.' I quipped.
Everyone began to laugh, and I almost lost my balance as Jimin sat down. He gently tugged on my waist, sitting me on his lap. I leant comfortably into him. Jin walked closer to us, carrying the cake. Four candles flickered brightly.
'Make a wish.' He said, holding the cake in front of me. I shut my eyes tight and thought for a moment. I wish we could all be happy I thought hard as I could. I opened my eyes and took a breath, before blowing ht candles out. The smoke swirled up, and I sat back as I tried to refrain from coughing. Jin already had a knife out, and began cutting slices.
As soon as Jimin got his slice He dipped his fingertips in the icing before attacking me, and smearing my face with it. I laughed, and began to wipe it away. I took a bite and my eyes widened.
'Jin this is amazing!' I said through a mouth full of cake. He beamed up proudly.
'Thanks.' He grinned, as the tips of his ears turned pink. 'I've found for something for you too. Here.' He said holding his hand out with his fist closed. He dropped something small into the palm of my hand. It was a small copper. 'It's from our first job together.' He said. 'I've got one too, we made about ten coppers, because nobody would hire two scrawny kids.' He laughed. I stared at it in awe. 'It just felt important, so I kept them.' He said. I nodded, swallowing a lump rising up in my throat.
'I got you something too.' Namjoon piped up. He rushed over, just catching a plate he'd almost dropped as he went. 'Here you go.' He said handing me a small box that fit in my hand. 'It was an accident at first.' He admitted. 'But I felt inspired, and chose to make something from it.' I carefully removed the lid, and opened it. Inside was a small misshapen heart with a hole in the top with some string through. Then I looked closer.
'Isn't that your shoelace?' I asked. He grinned awkwardly.
'I lost the other shoe, so it would've been thrown away.' He explained. I smiled and hung it around my neck. I stopped as Jimin placed his hands on mine.
'Let me.' He said, tying the ends together. I felt goosebumps rise up on my skin as his fingers grazed the back of my neck. When he was finished he placed a delicate kiss on my neck.
'Stop with the pda.' Tae muttered as he stood up. I laughed slightly at this as he walked over. Jimin wrapped his hands around me, pulling me further onto his lap.
'Or what?' Jimin smirked.
'Or nothing, you perv.' He said shaking his head. 'This is for you.' He said, deciding to ignore Jimin's smug grin. He gave me a little bag. It rattled as he passed it to me, biting nervously on his lip. I opened it.
'Stones?' I asked.
'You always wanted to see the sea, so I thought I'd bring a bit of it to you. Some pebbles.' He explained, watching my face for my reaction. I grinned, as the lump in my throat returned.
'That's so... wow.' I murmured. 'You remembered that?'
'I remembered everything.' He said softly. A tear spilled from my eye.
'Oh that is disgustingly cheesy.' Yoongi said, making me laugh through my tears. Hoseok cuffed him over the head playfully.
'It's precious you idiot.' He said.
'You're all making me look bad.' Jimin complained.
'You do that fine yourself.' Tae snapped.
'Just being with you is a gift for me.' I replied.
'I think I might be lactose intolerant.' I heard Yoongi say from the other side of the room. I laughed and buried my head in Jimin's shoulder. He kissed the top of my head. I didn't move for a while, just content to stay.
When I resurfaced, I turned to face everybody.
'I love you all so much. You don't know how much it means. I'm glad I've gotten to meet you all.' I said choking up again. 'You've all made life brighter for me.' I said.
And when I was done, I wasn't the only person crying.
