My consciousness began to return in fits and bursts. Snippets of harshly uttered words and the smell of smoke permeated the fuzz filling my head. As I woke up I was vaguely aware of an agony in my shoulder, but the buzzing in my head was distracting me. I opened my eyes a fraction. A group of blurry figures stood in front of me. Jungkook and Junghyun, but not just them anymore. Jimin, Taehyung, Suga, Namjoon and Jin were stood behind them.
My eyes began to clear but my head was still pounding. Then I realised something was wrong. My skin felt stretched too thin, like an elastic band just about to snap. It burned too, like my entire body was on fire. As I began to move, I realised my wrists had been freed. I rolled my head back and looked. What little was left of the rope was burnt and shrivelled on the ground.
I started to push myself up. Jungkook was still arguing with Junghyun, his voice strained. I couldn't quite make out the words, but he sounded pained. My legs shook beneath me. I couldn't tell how Jungkook's magic was still affecting me. It shouldn't have such severe side effects. I stumbled as I straightened up. Someone clamped their hand on my shoulder and fear flared up inside me. They released me almost straight away with a hiss. I spun around raising my hands in defense as he swore loudly.
'You fucking bitch!' He spat vehemently. He clutched at his hand, glaring foully at me.
I shrunk away as he began to raise a hand.
'Get back!' I cried out desperately. The room fell silent, and he hesitated. 'You can't touch me!' I said shakily, drawing back. 'Don't touch me.' I begged as a pressure built inside me. It had been years, but this feeling was too familiar. It wasn't Jungkook's magic, this was mine.
I turned back, looking for the others. They looked back in fear. Jimin's face was as white as ice, and Jin was completely tensed up.
'What's happening?' Jimin asked nervously. His lips shook.
'You have to get back.' I said.
'Y/n please, you have to tell us what's happening.' He implored. 'I want to help you.'
'My, it.. my magic-' I stammered, as the buzzing in my head intensified. Jimin began to walk a few steps forward, and I rushed back. He slowed. A pained expression crossed his face.
'What can I do?' He asked. I shook my head.
'I don't know.' My voice cracked. 'I can't hurt you.'
'I don't care.'
'I can't kill you.' I begged. He continued walking towards me.
Yoongi rushed forwards and grasped his arm.
'Scaring her is only going to make it worse.' He said tersely, pulling Jimin back. Jimin's eyes lingered on mine as he stepped away.
'You'll be ok, won't you?' He asked fearfully.
I couldn't speak. I couldn't to lie to him. Electricity arced across my skin.
'Please.'
I grimaced as a wave of pain washed over me.
'PLEASE!' He cried out as Yoongi pulled him back. 'Suga let GO!'
'You have to get out, I don't know how long I can hold this back.' I croaked. I gasped in pain as my muscles began to spasm. 'LEAVE NOW!'
Junghyun turned on his heel and fled the room first followed by his henchmen. I shut my eyes as tears threatened to spill. I heard footsteps as the rest began to leave. I opened my eyes, and Jin was the only one left. He smiled gently at me, and a tear fell from my face, as I groaned in pain.
'Suga's dragged Jimin away, but we're just outside.' He said softly. I shut my eyes and nodded. 'Namjoon said it's fine to stay outside, the metal warehouse walls should act as a faraday cage. I'll be the first one in when you're done.' He said. Then he walked out, looking back once. I was the only one left in the warehouse.
I felt a final wave of electricity begin to build up in my body. It grew and grew. My grip on it was beginning to slip. I shook, straining to hold it down but I was losing control. With one final cry, the pure energy ripped through my body, and I dissolved into pain. Blinding light filled my eyes as I released years of pent up magic. My skin felt simultaneously electrocuted and scorched. Every part of my body screamed out in agony.
Then as soon as it had started, it vanished. My lungs heaved for a breath I hadn't even realised I'd been holding. I coughed, and stumbled. I looked up as a door scraped open. Jin was walking in to the warehouse.
'Jin.' I called out weakly.
'How do you feel.' He asked as he reached me.
'How do you think?' I rasped. He laughed gently, and went to put a hand on my forehead. He yelped, and pulled his hand back suddenly.
'Jimin always says you're hot, but I don't think this is what he means.' Jin joked awkwardly.
'Is it that bad?'
He lifted up his fingers, which were a darker shade of pink that they ought to have been. 'I'm Sorry.' I said lowly
'This will take seconds to fix.' He said. 'Don't worry about it. Do you feel ok leaving?' He asked.
'Yeah.' I replied. 'We've done what we came to do. How's Jimin?' I asked.
'Scared.' Jin stated frankly. He started walking towards the door. 'I think we all are. What happened to you in there? Do you know how loud you were?'
'Did I scream?'
'You sounded tortured.' Jin admitted.
'I felt tortured.' I said as he pushed the door open. I followed him out. Everyone was stood just outside, staring at me nervously.
'How do you feel?' Jimin asked hesitantly.
'I've been better.' I said, scratching the nape of my neck. My fingers shook against my skin, and I tried to steady them.
Before I could react, Jimin swept me up in a bear hug, smothering me.
'I was so scared.' He murmured into my neck. I dug my fingers into his jumper.
'So was I.' I whispered back. His grip on me tightened, and he, pressed a kiss to the side of my head.
'You're safe, Y/n. You're safe now.'
