Chapter 10

My step-brother, one of my best friends, another one of my best friends, and a girl I met in school died yesterday and today. This couldn't actually be real. I get to go home today since I'm awake and breathing. Hayes seems to be the one who has to slave over everyone but Adrianne is coming over to help.

Logan has a broken nose and a concussion but that's all so he's just in bed resting. Layla had a broken arm but it was re-injured and broken worse and her leg is now broken too. Nash needs hip surgery so he sits and sleeps in his wheelchair and does nothing and the rest of the boys are in bed rest.

We are all sharing one room so it's easier. Logan is on my left and Layla is next to him. On the other side of me is Cameron and Nash sits in front of him most of the time. Taylor is next to Cameron and Lucy is next to Taylor.

"Gillian, I have a really important question" Hayes tells me.

"Okay, what is it?" I ask him.

"HAYES!" Taylor yells. Hayes rushes over to him. I guess that question will have to wait. I have bed rest for one more day and then I'm fine and I can help Hayes.

"I can't wait to have Hayes let me get up" I groan.

"HAYES!" Hayes rushes to Cameron's side.

"How many more days of bed rest do I have?"

"Let's see, 20 days left, Cam" Hayes says and Cameron groans.

"How about me?" Taylor asked.

"25-30 days" Hayes answers. "Lucy you have 10 days, Logan, you have two, Layla, you aren't even really on bed rest but however long you want, Gillian has one" Hayes completes the list.

I'm finally out of bed rest today. Hayes is great at taking care of me but I can't lay in a bed any longer. I'm a little dizzy but I don't really care. Hayes still hasn't asked me that question. Maybe he doesn't even have it anymore.

"So that question?" I ask Hayes and he nods.

"Yeah um-"

"Gillian!" Taylor interrupts. I give Hayes a sympathetic smile and walk over to Taylor to help him with whatever he needs.

"Yes, Taylor?" I ask and he smiles.

"I'm hungry" he tells me.

"It's lunch time in two hours, you can wait two hours" I tell him.

"No I can't!" Taylor protests. I leave him and go over to Hayes.

"So, I love you so much and a few days ago made me realize that if I want to be with you forever I need to do something-"

"Hayes" Cameron calls. Hayes shakes his head and walks over to Cameron. He comes back over to me after about twenty minutes.

"So the question is will you-"

"Gill, I need your help quick" Lucy says. I walk over to Lucy

"Daddy" I hear Logan say.

"Adrianne" Layla whines.

"Hey can you help me get up? I have to pee" Lucy tells me. I laugh and help her up and to the bathroom. I lay her back down and go to the front of the room.

"Gill, can you get me water?" Cameron asks.

"Daddy, I have a headache again" I hear Logan.

"My leg hurts" Layla tells Adrianne. Adrianne and Hayes go get medicine and I go get water. I hand Cameron his water and Hayes and Adrianne give the medicine to Logan and Layla and we all stand at the front of the room.

"Will you marry me?" Hayes asks. I look at him and everyone is quiet. Everyone heard. I look at Hayes and sigh.

"I don't know" I answer.

"Why not?" Hayes asks.

"Because you said you learned a few days ago that you learned you wanted to be with me forever. I learned that life is short and hard there's too much going on right now and I don't want to be stressed out over planning a wedding right now. We have two four year olds and four funerals, and we have to take care of our best friends the rest of the month. I can't give you an answer right now" I tell Hayes. Everyone is watching us.

"Well I was hurt badly a few days ago and this made it worse" Hayes says and walks away.

"Hayes" I close my eyes and breathe for a minute. I grew up too fast I'm only twenty years old. I don't want to get married yet.
