Louis and I make our way to the greenhouse. The first people we see is Aasim and Violet. I see Violet leaning up against the greenhouse, still dizzy from the gas bombs being thrown inside the school. "Glad you guys made it," I say to Aasim and Violet. "Yeah, glad you guys made it out of there," Aasim replies. I quickly set off into panic, worrying if AJ didn't make it out of the school. "Do you know where AJ is?" I ask in trepidation. "I think I saw AJ with Tennessee and Omar. I kept losing consciousness anyhow, so I'm not quite sure," Violet says in a low quiet voice. I let out a big huff, and try to settle down. "He'll be fine, Clem. He's handled himself this long. He's tough, like you." I feel a wave of relief pass by me, as I hear those words come out of Louis' mouth. I look at him and feel the urge to kiss him. But, I hold myself back. We look into each other's eyes, as Violet and Aasim seem confused. "Are you guys dating, or something?", Aasim asks. "Yes, we are, Aasim. Jealous?" Louis says in a snarky voice. I look over at Violet and notice her sigh. I see her look at the ground as if she's disappointed. I shake it off as Aasim asks "How long have you guys been together?" Louis responds with "Who keeps track of time in the apocalypse?" The truth is, we've only been together for about 3 hours.
To switch topics, I ask "Do the others know about this meetup spot?" I see Aasim and Violet shrug their shoulders at the same time. "I'm pretty sure they do. We'll just have to wait and see anyhow," Aasim replies. "Who else are we waiting for?" I ask. "Pretty sure we're waiting for Willy, Omar, AJ, Tenn, Ruby, and Mitch", Aasim responds. I decide to break the news, saying Mitch didn't make it. I figure it's the right thing to do. "Aasim, Mitch didn't make it". I see the shock in Violet, Louis, and Aasim's eyes. "A-are you sure, Clementine?", Violet says in a shaky voice. "Yeah. I tried to save him. Almost got myself killed trying to", I say in a depressive voice. "God damn it!", I hear Aasim say at the top of his lungs. "Keep your voice down. We don't want those raiders finding us!", Violet says to Aasim. Aasim leans lagainst the greenhouse and proceeds to slouch down. I can tell everyone's a little shook up by Mitch's death. I see Louis standing next to a tree, after hearing the news. Just looking at what's left of nature. "Hey, are you going to be alright?" I ask Louis. Louis responds with "I guess. It's sort of scary losing everyone. I didn't know Mitch that well but, It's still scary the fact everyone's dying so soon." I shrug my shoulders, as I decide it's better if I leave Louis alone for a while. I don't want him getting irritated.
I look in the distance to see five people running straight towards the greenhouse. I get my gun out of my pocket, and hold it tight in my right hand. Just in case. As the five silhouettes get closer, I realize it's AJ, Omar, Tenn, Willy, and Ruby. I put my gun away, and run towards AJ. I give him a tight warm hug, grateful to see him again. "Clem! I'm so happy you made it out of there!", AJ says with a smile. "I'm so glad you're okay," I say to him. I let go of our hug and look at the rest of the group. I notice Ruby tightly grabbing onto her shoulder. I see blood all over her hands. "Ruby, what happened?" I ask her. "Why the fuck do you care so much?" She says in a fit of rage. I felt anger run through my veins as says that. All I've ever been is nice to her. "What the hell do you have against me?" I question. "I was shot, alright? Now can you just screw off?" I decide to lay off, just so no one loses their temper. "Did the raiders follow you guys?" I question the group. "I don't wanna find out. We should leave sooner than later," Omar says. I check my pockets for the map Marlon gave me. I surprising feel it. I get a grip on it and open it up. I analyze the crinkled map. I realize we should go past the safe zone, so the raiders lose track of us. "We have to go past the safe zone." I state. "Wherever we go, we just need to get out of here before those raiders find us," says Louis.
We start our walk. We decided to head south, and possibly find shelter somewhere else. Louis and I lead the group, as we proceed to have a conversation. I look at AJ, and see he's becoming good friends with Tenn. I'm glad AJ has found an actual friend. "So Louis. Since you asked me so many questions I figure it's my turn," I say to him. Louis responds with "Ask away, Clem." I figure I should ask him about his family. "What happened to your family before the apocalypse?" I see him take a slight pause. Louis reply's with, "When the apocalypse broke out, I was at school with Marlon. We sort of stayed at the school throughout the whole thing. I have no clue if my parents made it out alright." I answer back with "Oh well, sorry to hear that." I see him shrug it off, as we continue our walk. "Now it's my turn to ask you a question," Louis says in an overjoyed voice. "No devastating ones," I reply with a smirk. "What do you consider a date?" Louis asks. "Well, we could travel to Paris. But that's pretty much impossible. Maybe have a picnic somewhere?" "Well maybe in the near future we'll have a picnic," Louis says in a charming voice. "What was your family like?"I ask Louis.
"Well, my dad was always an asshole to me. He always said I needed to do better in school. It always got on my nerves. He did other shitty things. My mom was alright I guess. She could've been a better role model." I smile at him, as an attempt to comfort him. Louis says "Out of all the guys in this group, why do you like me?" I think about his question. "I don't know, you just make me feel happier. Everyone else is so depressed. You just lift my spirits." I see him smile at my answer. His dark brown eyes shine as if there were stars in them. I snap of it, and decide to ask Louis a more realistic question. "What do you think our future will look like?" I see him look at the sky as he thinks. "Good question. Well hopefully, I won't be dead. Maybe we can go to Florida, and live a life out there." I remember Kenny wanted to go to Florida. Almost made it until I crashed the car. "I've got a bit of a weird question to ask," Louis says. I reply back with "That's fine. Ask away." Do you believe in love at first sight?" He says quietly. I stop in my tracks, and look at Louis. I've only known Louis for three days. The second I saw Louis, I knew he was special. I knew he meant something to me. I answer back with "Yeah. Yeah, I think I do." I seem him smile at me, as we continue our walk.
Many hours later, we find the group too tired to take another step. The sun has almost set behind the hills, leaving a watercolour looking sunset. "We should find shelter before night falls," states Aasim. I respond with,"Yeah we probably should. What about that farm with the wired fence over to the left? Maybe that's a good place to sleep?" Aasim answers back with, "Might as well give it a try. We need somewhere to rest before it's too late to see anything." I direct the group to the farm, crossing my fingers no one lives there. The house itself looks torn down, almost as if a tornado ran through it. I notice a barn right next to the house. It's definitely seen better days but can probably sleep in it. Aasim and I tell the group we're sleeping here for the night. I see Ruby give me a disgusted look, still grasping onto her shoulder. Everyone settles down for the night, making what they can of the space. I see Tenn and AJ still hanging out, making a conversation out of what they can. Everyone else has gone off to bed. I decide it's for the better if I get some rest as well. I go over to the corner of the barn and lay down.
As I drift off to bed, I look in Louis' direction. I notice him all alone. I figure I should ask him if he wants my company. I know it's a weird question but, isn't that what couples do? "Hey, you look quite lonely. What's up?" I ask. I seem him look at me, and shrug his shoulders. "Ugh, I know this is a weird question. I know it's an idiotic thing to ask but," he takes a pause. "Wanna sleep next to be tonight? I don't mean it in a weird way. Just since we're a cou-" I cut him off just to save him the stress. "Sure, Louis." I lay down next to him and look at him. A smile goes across my face, as drift off to sleep.
