My eyes slowly widen, as I start to wake up. I look to my left to see Louis. I smile, as I remember how skittish he was last night. I shift quietly to my right, making sure I don't disturb Louis from his rest. I get on my knees, and slowly make my way to my feet. I scan the barn and see Ruby, Aasim, and AJ already up.
I make my way towards AJ and ask him "How did you sleep last night?" He looks in my direction, with a smile. He reply's back with "Alright I guess. Why were you sleeping with Louis?" AJ questions. My cheeks go red, as I hear Aasim chuckle. "Well, I don't know why I did, if I'm being completely honest. I just felt comfortable being with him." I say with a nervous smile. I see AJ nod his head, as an understanding of my explanation.
I look over at Aasim, ready for a lecture of some sort. "I see you're a real hotshot now." He says in a sappy voice. I walk over to him and give him a light punch in the shoulder. He chuckles, then puts a straight face on. "In all seriousness, I don't know if Ruby's going to make it. " Aasim states in a worrying voice. "What a way to switch topics," I say to myself. "Well, what do you mean?" I ask. "Ruby has a bullet in her shoulder. There's blood all over her. She hasn't slept for a while either." He pauses and lets out a light sigh. "What I'm trying to say is, she could turn anytime." I see him look over at Ruby in concern. I look over at her as well. All Ruby's doing is looking at what's left of the world. "So what are we going to do?" I ask Aasim. "Well, I was hoping you could talk to her. Maybe see if she'll be able to handle a walk?" I roll my eyes and reply with "Ruby hates my guts. Why should I talk to her?" Aasim responds with "Well you're the leader of the group. Just talk to her. It's not like she'll kill you." "Be careful what you say," I say to Aasim. I see him smile, as I walk over to Ruby. I prepare myself to be hissed at by her. "Hey, Ruby. How are you doing?" I say in a calm voice. She looks over in my direction and says in a snotty voice, "Not so good. Why does it matter?" I answer back with "Well, pretty sure the whole group is gonna do a lot of walking today. We need a better place for shelter." She completely ignores the comment I make. I ask her "Do you think you'll be able to handle the walk?" She hisses back with "Yeah, I'll be fucking fine. Now screw off." I shrug my shoulders and walk back over to Aasim. "She says she'll be able to handle the walk. We should wake everyone else up, and continue our journey. For all we know, those raiders are right behind us." I see Aasim nod his head, as he starts to wake everyone else up.
Everyone has been up for at least 20 minutes now. As we exit the barn, we continue our walk from yesterday. Everyone splits off into the groups they were in from the day before. Louis makes his way towards me, as butterflies start to form in my stomach. "Hey, Clem. How'd you sleep last night?" I say "Pretty well. What about you? How'd you sleep?" He responds back with "Pretty good, I'd have to say. Thanks for, y'know keeping me company last night." He says with a soft smile. "No problem. We can do that every night if you want?" I say with a nervous smile. "Sure sounds like a cool idea". Louis says in an excited voice.
I look back at Ruby, to see her struggling. "Is Ruby going to be alright?" Louis asks. "I don't think she's going to make it," I say in a concerning voice. I see a look of sadness overcome Louis. He responds with "Well that sucks."
Suddenly, Ruby falls to the ground. The whole group stops in their tracks, to see if she's alright. "Ruby are you okay?" Violet says in a worrying voice. "You guys go on. I can't take another step without being in pain." Violet reply's back with "We can't just leave you to turn into one of those things!" Ruby answers back with "Well you're going to have to. Now go on. Please, for my sake." Everyone says their goodbyes to Ruby, as we all feel more depressive. We tried to convince her to walk but hell, she's stubborn as a mule. With tears in our eyes, we continue our walk. Ruby was a bitch to me, but she never deserved this. She never deserved death.
Throughout the rest of the walk, it was dead silent. Abruptly, we stumble upon a house that seems to be in good shape. There's a big metal gate, protecting the perimeter of the house. Right beside the home, is where a beautiful river is. Trees form around the river, making it a beautiful scenery. "Can we stay here, Clem?" AJ asks in an overjoyed voice. "I don't know yet. I have to discuss with Aasim, then we'll see." I walk over to Aasim to discourse if we should stay or not. "It seems too good to be true," I say to Aasim. "You'd have to be a fool to pass this offer up! We should see if someone lives here. If so, we move on. If not, we stay here." Aasim states. "Fine, I'll check the inside of the house," I respond in a stubborn voice. "I'll come with you," Louis says. Everyone looks at us. Now I'm pretty sure everyone knows we're dating. Don't go into the bedroom you two," Omar says. A disgusted look goes across my face. "What does he mean, Clem?" AJ asks. "Uh, I'll explain later AJ," I say in an uneasy voice.
Louis and I dart into the house, with both our cheeks burning hot. "Is Omar always that, disgusting?" I ask Louis. "Um no. Not usually". I roll my eyes, and continue to check the house. "Looks like the house is clear. We should go tell the others," I say to Louis. Out of nowhere, Louis gives me a soft kiss on the lips. "That's my apology for Omar being a creep. Hope you accept my apology." Louis says with a grin. I kiss him back, for a long ten seconds. After our kiss, I say "Don't worry about it. Anyway, let's go tell the others the coast is clear."
We walk out of the house and tell everyone it's a safe place to stay for a while. Everyone rushes in, to check out the house. Soon enough, everyone fights over which room they want. Louis and I decide to sleep in the same room. I decided to check in on AJ. "Hey AJ. Which room are you staying in?" AJ responds with "Tenn and I are staying in the same room. There's bunk beds and everything!" I can see the excitement in him. I feel so relaxed now, that AJ has finally found a real friend.
It's been a couple of hours now, and everyone has settled in. Aasim and Willy decided to go hunting in the nearest forest. I figure they found some knives or something in the kitchen. Violet decided to take Tenn and AJ to hunt for fish. I don't exactly know how that will work out but, oh well.
The rest of us have decided to take it easy. I don't know where Louis has gone through. As I ponder around the house, I hear Louis calling my name. "Hey, Clem! Come near the lake. I have a surprise for you." As my heart skips a beat, I make my way towards the lake. In the distance, I see him sitting on a picnic-like blanket. I make my way towards him, with a shiny smile across my face. "Remember when you said you consider a picnic a date? Well, I tried to meet this up to your standards." Louis says with a grin. I sit next to him and put my head on his shoulder. He softly wraps his arm around me. "You didn't have to do this, you know," I say to Louis. "Well, I did. I must say, it was quite difficult finding a picnic blanket." I chuckle at his little joke. I lightly kiss him on the lips, and say "thanks for doing all this."
I close my eyes, as I start to feel tired. I feel like it would be weird sleeping on Louis. I hear him softly say "It's alright, you can take a little nap on me." I smile at him, and slowly drift off to sleep.

(Hopefully, you liked that chapter! Next week school starts, which sucks :/ Also, I'm going on vacation that same week! Hopefully, I'll still be able to publish stories. I probably won't be able to publish a chapter each day. But, we'll just have to wait and see!:)
