The next morning, I was ready to challenge the gym. Charmander was walking next to me, feeling confident as well. He was starting to get used to me already, so that was nice.
I walked in the gym and saw the gym leader's silhouette in the back, so I started speed walking towards him. A kid suddenly dashed in front of me, making us both trip.
"Meanie!" The child shouted. "I'm gonna go tell my big brother on you!"
Kids these days.
I suddenly saw the kid, giving me an evil smirk and I saw the gym leader standing next to him. He looked about two years older than me and had black spikey hair. "Hello, the name's Brock. I'm the gym leader and I use rock types. Sorry about my little brother earlier,"
"I'm Mika," I introduced. "I'm here to challenge the gym,"
He sent out a Geodude and the kid walked to the sidelines.
"Rules are simple," He said. "Challenger gets the first hit and can use substitutions. Gym Leader isn't allowed to use potions or substitute,"
I knew Charmander wouldn't have an advantage here, so I sent out Dratini.
"Dratini, use dragon rush!"
After she attacked, Geodude ended up getting knocked to the ground.
"Not bad," Brock complimented, showing no signs of cockiness. "Looks like you already know how to handle dragon types,"
I smiled, causing pink to dust his cheeks. "Thanks, it runs in the family. My older brother, cousin, and step-sister are all dragon tamers,"
"Geodude, use rock throw!" Brock ordered.
Dratini suffered some damage, but she managed to pull through. We all trained last night, so I know they're stronger than they were yesterday.
Just as I was about to tell her to use another move, her mouth gaped open and a bright beam shot out towards Geodude. Geodude was immediately knocked out and I widened my eyes. Did she just learn a new move?
I took my Pokedex out.
"This move is called 'Hyper Beam.' The foe is attacked with a powerful beam. The user must rest on the next turn to regain its energy."
Dratini had to rest, since hyper beam took a lot out of her.
"Geodude, use rockslide!" Brock ordered again.
A bunch of rocks fell onto her and she looked like she was starting to get lower on health now. I was going to send her back to let her rest, but she instantly gave me a look that was telling me "don't you dare."
I frowned slightly at her. "Don't overwork yourself, okay?"
She gave me a look of determination.
I sighed. "Oh alright, use dragon rush,"
She attacked once again, causing Geodude to faint. I didn't want to make her use hyper beam since she seemed tired.
Brock sent his Geodude back. "You're good, but this isn't over yet," He reached for another pokeball. "Go, Onix!"
A huge rock snake suddenly appeared in front of me and now, I was slightly intimidated. I took my Pokedex out again and it explained to me how Onix was a rock type.
"Dratini, use dragon rush!"
Her attack didn't do as much damage to this Onix. I had no choice but to try hyper beam.
"Onix, use wrap!" Brock shouted.
The Onix wrapped around Dratini and she looked like she was in pain. I felt bad and decided I couldn't make her fight any longer since her health was already low. "Dratini, return!"
