Misty looked just as confused as I did.
Horsea used bubble beam without Misty telling it to.
"Horsea, stop!" She shouted, but it didn't listen to her.
"Spinarak, knock it off!" I shouted as Spinarak started using scary face.
"Misty, something is wrong!" The girl with pink hair said, running towards us.
The blonde girl who Charmander was sitting next to came running. "Lily is right! None of the pokemon in the gym are listening, including Mika's Charmander!"
We all looked over, seeing the pokemon fighting and some were pacing around as if they were under a spell.
"Guys, we've got to like, split up," The blonde said. "Misty, you and the trainer need to go investigate, Violet and I will investigate in the pool, and Lily, you need to watch the pokemon,"
"But Daisy, what can I do? They won't listen," The pink-haired girl said.
"Just make sure they don't hurt themselves. Try to distract them if anything," Violet replied.
We all parted ways and Misty and I started looking around the gym. We found nothing that could be causing this, so this was weird.
We started walking towards a hallway and I could hear footsteps that didn't belong to us. My heart started to race.
I turned around quickly, seeing Violet and Daisy. I sighed with relief. "Well, we found nothing. Maybe we should go check in the basement," Daisy said.
That's the worst place to investigate in a time like this. I've seen way too many horror movies to know where this is going.
Daisy sighed seeing our expressions. "We need to, for the sake of the pokemon,"
"F-Fine, but Misty and Mika can do that," Violet said.
How rude.
"Of course," Misty muttered under her breath.
Misty and I exchanged glances and started walking down the basement. I kept getting startled easily since it was dark in here. I thought I heard a crash, so I grabbed Misty's arm with fear.
I realized it was upstairs, so I let go.
Then, there was a loud crash that came from here. I jumped onto Misty with fear, clinging for dear life. I was embarrassed when I realized I've just been watching way too many horror movies.
"Thanks, Misty," I said. "Sorry I keep jumping on you. I've watched way too many scary movies back then,"
"What?" Misty asked with confusion.
"Uh, you're holding me because I jumped onto you, so I'm thanking you for that," I replied.
"M-Mika...I'm not holding you," Misty stuttered.
I widened my eyes and quickly grabbed a flashlight. Once I turned it on, I saw a masked face and got out of this person's grip and actually held onto Misty this time. "M-Misty? Do you know this person?"
She shook her head, also holding onto me.
Both of our hearts were pounding and she was shaking.
God, now I wish Connor was here to help us.
"V-VIOLET?!" Misty called out, but there was no answer.
"Aren't there any lights down here?" I ask.
"No, because we hardly ever go down here. Now that I think about it, maybe we should fix it up down here to make it more, uh friendly,"
Oh god, I'm going to die. And I haven't even gotten close to becoming a champion.
"W-Who are you?!" I shouted at the masked person.
They've been standing there in silence the entire time we've been talking. They didn't reply and I wished that our pokemon were listening, otherwise I'd send Dratini out.
The mask was one of those full-faced phantom masks. This one was a periwinkle/lavender color and when I saw movement, I moved the flashlight and saw another masked person. This one was a lot shorter and wore a red mask. Then there was a blue one and a white one, that was the tallest out of all of them.
"What do you guys want?!" Misty demanded.
They still said nothing.
"Guys! I found something!" Daisy shouted from upstairs.
Misty and I were too frozen in fear.
"Guys, come on!" Violet called.
"Just go." The tallest one spoke suddenly.
Misty dragged me over to the staircase and we sprinted up the stairs.
We found Violet and Daisy. They were standing next to some kind of green machine that looked clunky and was making a horrible grinding noise.
I realized it was very similar to the machine that Sayuri had. Did she lie to me? How could she lie to me? I was angry at her now. I knew I shouldn't have trusted her!
Violet covered her ears because the machine's noise was too much for her. Daisy had a screwdriver and started dismantling it. Misty and I started helping her dismantle it.
"So this machine has settings," Daisy said. "It's just: Control, attack, and march. This may be the reason why our pokemon stopped listening to us,"
We decided to carry it down the hall and it took all of us because it was so freaking heavy. Lily immediately ran up to us when she saw us.
"Guys! The pokemon are back to normal!" She said.
Charmander came running to me and Spinarak was behind him. They both were acting dramatic as if they were trying to apologize in a dramatic way.
"Guys, it's okay," I said to them. "I understand now that the machine was controlling you,"
They both jumped into my arms, making Misty chuckle at the sight.
"Did you guys like, find anything under there?" Daisy asked.
So we told her about the masked people down there, but they laughed at us like we're crazy. Misty and I exchanged glances. "But it DID happen, you need to call Officer Jenny!" Misty insisted.
"Fine," Violet said and called the cops.
They came and inspected the area. They didn't find any people, but they did take the machine with them to investigate it. It was kind of funny seeing Officer Jenny yelling at the other policemen for struggling to carry that heavy machine.
After all of that, Misty walked up to me with all of her sisters.
"We want to like, thank you for your help," Daisy smiled.
"So we're going to give you the Cascade Badge," Misty said.
"But I...I didn't even battle for it. Are you sure I can just take it?" I asked, frowning slightly.
"No, it's okay," Lily chuckled. "If it weren't for you, we wouldn't have been able to solve what happened today and the pokemon would've been hurt. Please accept it."
I took the Cascade Badge and put it in my badge case. "Thank you guys," I smiled. "And Misty, if you see Ash, tell him I said hi when you see him."
She nodded and they all waved as I left.
"Bye! See you later!" Lily called.
Today was pretty weird. I looked at my clock, seeing it was 8:00 pm. I decided to hit the Pokemon Center first and then start heading over to Vermillion City. I think I'd be able to make it there before it got too late.
As I left, I saw a bunch of police officers at a house nearby and overheard them talking about how Team Rocket broke into that place. I need to get stronger so I can take them down for good.
