Chapter 37

All the ride home the boys never shut up about what happened with Harper and how it was like something from the wrestling.
"Boys sometimes grown ups have to do some stuff that involves violence but under no circumstances should you ever do that to a woman ok"
"Yes Daddy we know." They said
I stopped past the chicken place and collected dinner and drive on home.
"Daddy when we get home can you take me and Tate mudding, please daddy" Bo said
"Yeah we can go after dinner ok but only once you clean up your dishes ok"
"Yes sir"

I pulled up outside and the boys jumped out and ran inside. Mama was on her way outside for a cigarette
"Still smoking mama" I laughed
"Of course helps with the stress" she laughed
I grabbed the food and headed inside.
"Dinner is here" I said
She put her cigarette back in the packet and by the time we where back inside Bo had set the table
"Well done sweetheart" Mama said
"We met daddy's friend today she was really nice you would like her Meemaw" Tate said
"That's brilliant baby I'm glad you had fun" mama said
"Yeah it was really good well until mama started shouting. It scared us but Harper made her stop" Tate said. Damn that boy definitely don't know how to keep a secret.
"I'm sure meemaw don't want to here that Tate" I said
"Yes Luke I would love to hear this story. Continue baby" she said
"Well we dropped Harper off and mama turned up she was shouting not nice things at daddy and Harper. Mama pushed Harper and then Harper pushed her on the floor." He babbled
Mama looked at me and I could tell that I was going to get an ear bashing
"Luke a word please" she said standing up
I stood up telling the boys to behave
"Luke what on earth happened" she said pissed
"Pretty much the exact way Tate said" I smirked
"Don't be smart boy you ain't to old to go over my knee and get a smacked ass" she said pointing her finger at me.
"Sorry Mama. Basically I was walking Harper to her car and Caroline approached me drunk, started yelling and scaring the boys. Harper was only protecting them." I said
"I really need to meet this girl. She sounds like I may like her" she said
"Oh you will love her mama because I do" I said
She looked at me shocked
"You have only known her a few weeks how can you say you love her" she asked
"You can only see the top of a iceberg but you still know it's an iceberg" I said
"When you put it like that. Why don't you invite her over for dinner tomorrow night The I can meet her before you leave on your. Is she going with you" she said
"Only to Atlantic's then the show after. She has work commitments" I said
"What does she do." She asked
"Vet receptionist but training to be a vet"
"Ah and she has brains. Well done son. I look forward to tomorrow. I will cook a brisket" she said walking off smiling. 
I went back to the table and the boys where clearing the table.
"Finish doing that boys and we can go mudding" I said
