Chapter 23

I had to spend time today with the boys, mama and unfortunately Caroline but I needed to cover my tracks. I planned on taking everyone out fishing and then back to the beach for a bbq leaving me plenty of time to see Harper before she left.
"Come boys grab your stuff we need to get going. Where's Meemaw and Mama" I said
"They are just coming" Tate yelled.
I pulled my phone out and text Harper
Luke💘: Hey darlin' I'm going out on the boat with the full family and all I'm gonna imagine is that day I spend with you xx
Harper🌸: Ok have fun
Mmmm I sense some jealousy
Luke💘: What's wrong
Harper🌸: Nothing just sad I'm leaving been such good fun 😊
"Who you texting" Caroline snapped
"Kerrie to tell her if I'm needed where al be" I replied
The look on her face showed she didn't believe me
"Oh ok" she said looping her arm through mine because she saw Mama and the boys coming
She definitely was a calculating bitch sometimes
We got down to the Marina and I got the same boat I had with Harper. It was the same marina attendant as well
"Ah Mr Bryan welcome back" he said
Shit think quick Luke
I saw Caroline shoot me a look.
"Yes nice to meet you again and thank you for sorting that out for me" I said shooting the guy a look and he knew not to say no more.
"Not a problem I was glad I was able to help" he said
How many more close shaves am I gonna have today.
I got everyone on board and we set sail. We went out about a mile and I dropped anchor and got the boys set up with the rods
"Thanks daddy" they both said
"Your welcome. Now be careful daddy is just gonna get mama and meemaw a drink and I will be right back" I said giving me a chance to get away and text Harper back

Luke💘: Sorry for late reply I have had so many close shaves today 😂. This weekend has been the best and I meant what I said I want this to continue x
She text back right away with a picture that almost made me come in my pants
Harper🌸: Maybe we can go hunting 😉

Luke💘: Jesus H Christ 😮😮. Now that's a promise. I better go and play happy husband. I will see you later xx
I decided to change my lock code on my phone to my thumb print and also facial ID as I wanted to keep that photo and I didn't need Caroline snooping though my phone.
Just as I was about to go back up deck mama came down
"Luke honey. I need to talk" she said
"What's yo mama" I said sitting down
"Is everything ok with you and Caroline y'all seem tense" she asked concerned
"Just had a massive row last night mama, she accused me of cheating with a fan but you know how I like to flirt it means nothing" I said
Another lie, dang I'm going straight to Hell
"Well why don't you and her go out on a date night tonight an I will watch the boys, try and get that spark back" she said
Can this day get any worse
"Yeah that sounds good. I have something I need to do before hand but I can be ready for 7. I will tell her I will pick her up at 730" I said
That should give me enough time to say goodbye to Harper
"Brilliant I hate when you to fight the boys pick up
On it you know" she said
"I'm sorry mama" I said
We went back up deck and I checked on the boys and I cast out my own rod. I was actually having an awesome time. The boys were enjoying themselves and Caroline was being ok. I looked at my watch and it was gone 430.
"Ok boys reel in your rods we need to get back if y'all wanna have burgers" I said
There was a few groans but we all packed up and I lifted the anchor and set sail back to the Marina.
I text Harper and told her I would come see her at 630 at her room before she left. That gives me 2 hours that should be enough time.

1 1/2 hours later

"Caroline I just need to go and get ready for our date tonight are you ok getting the boys back ok" I said
"Not really Luke I need to get ready also, you have been preoccupied all weekend so can you please help your mama get them back" she said
"Ok"
Why does she always do this when I need to do something.
"Fine, come on boys let's help meemaw back and she will get y'all ready for a movie" I said
I looked at my phone and I noticed it had turned off. Damn my battery is flat. It's ok I will put it on charge and the room and Harper already knows where to meet me.
I hurried back and did a few things and by the time I had everything back I looked at my watch and it was 715. Nooooooo.
I grabbed my phone and saw numerous texts from Harper.
Harper🌸: Where r u baby x
Harper🌸: Luke I can't wait any longer you promised
Harper🌸: I knew this would happen I left myself wide open
Harper🌸: I'm gone.

I tried calling her straight away. Voicemail........
