I woke up at one in the afternoon still on the couch with Joe. He was snoring lightly and had his arms around me. I quietly slipped out of his loose grip and went to the kitchen. My phone was right where I had left it before going in the jacuzzi. I picked it up and unlocked it to find five messages and two calls. They were all from Darren... I called back right away and walked outside so Joe wouldnt wake up.
"Hello??!"
"O Hey Lils, I was wondering if you would like to go out for a late lunch with me? I'm in town for a couple days.."
"Umm, sure, I should probably check and see what Joe is doing though.."
"Lily, please, just as friends, I miss you.. I need to hear your laugh and see your smile"
"Darren.. look its different now.. "
"I know, I know, please just hangout with me today, Im lonely.."
"Fine give me an hour to get ready I just woke up."
"Yes!!! Cant wait to see you!!"
"Yea, me too"
I nudged Joe awake to tell him what was going on.
"Hey Joe?"
"Yea babe?"
"Im gonna hang out with Darren today, hes in town.."
"Lily, I trust you.. but if that son of a bitch touches you or makes you feel uncomfortable at all, I will personally kick his ass."
"Ok, Love you.."- I said as I walked to the door
"Love you too babe."
Darren picked me up right on time at 2;30. We went to a cute Italian restaurant and then got ice cream after. I found it all extremely awkward, but he was overjoyed the whole time. Later we went back to his apartment, used to be mine too, to watcha movie. I curled up on the corner of the couch and texted joe.
"Lily, your missing the movie"- Darren saud
"Just give me a minute, im texting Joe."
"Why? He knows your with me.."
"Exactly, he is waiting for you to try something so he can kick your ass, Im keeping him at bay.."
"Wow, ok... I wasn't gonna do anything, were friends now.. even though if you wanted to do anything I totally would.."
"Don't need to know that Darren.. "
"Lily can I tell you something?"
"What?"
"I screwed up big time.. why don't I get a second chance?"
"Umm because Joe beat you to it.. Joe took care of me while you were screwing around.. I love him.."
"You dont love me still though?"
"Darren-"
"Answer the damn question!"?
"Yes.. I do, but I'm not cheating.. you just a friend now.."
"But why would you give up on me??
"Darren take me home."-I said getting up and going to the door
"No."
"What?!?'
"You heard me, no. Call your boyfriend to get you, or stay with me tonight."
"Fine I'll call Joe."
I dialed Joe's number and waited for an answer. I shifted my weight on my feet and nervously played with a strand of hair.
"Hello?"
"Hey Lily.. you ok?"
"Yea.. um can you come pick me up?"
'WHAT DID HE DO, I SWEAR LILY IM GONNA KILL HIM."
"Nothing Joe, just please come get me."- I felt the tears forming in my eyes
"I will be right there."
I put the phone down and sat in front of the door. Darren stared at me shaking his head. He slowly got up and came over to me.
"Dont touch me."
"Wasn't gonna"
"Well go back over there, i will be gone in a couple minutes"
"I can stand wherever I want."
"ok"
He bent down to my level. I felt my heart racing.
"You still love me. I still love you, get over your stupid make believe world Lils, you and me are meant to be."
"Shut up Darren."
"No, you need to hear this. I LOVE YOU."
With that he locked his lips on mine. He picked me up under my arms and leaned me up against the wall as I squirmed. He had both of my wrists in one hand above my head and his other hand held the back of my head as his body pressed into mine. I felt my phone vibrate and soon after a knock on the door before Joe burst in. He took one look at Darren and started yelling.
"GET OFF DARREN, SHE IS WITH ME DAMN IT!!!"
'Dude, she still loves me. Let her decide."- he said letting my hands fall to my sides and backing up.
I took a deep breath and walked over to Joe. I sobbed into his chest as I felt Darren's eyes pierce my back like daggers. Joe walked me out to the car without another word and placed me in the passengers seat. We didnt talk during the ride home and I knew that I would never ever be with Darren alone ever again.. I felt sparks when he kissed me again, even though I would never admit it..
